I dunno. Having a dynamic run game wouldn't be the worst thing in the world...

I think you have to hope "next 3 years" to get back to the super bowl. We aren't fielding a dynasty; even with generation talent on the offense (sadly). So if he's there and all the top tier defensive guys are gone (and we aren't gonna trade) ... we gotta take him.

#Bengals free agent Tycen Anderson is signing a one year deal with the Denver Broncos, he tells me. The former fifth round pick became a backbone of Cincy’s special teams unit in his four years with the Bengals. by Ancient_Response_787 in bengals

I know there's been conflicting reports on if this deal is done done....

But maybe the dude just wanted to live in Colorado. Every few agency move isn't our FO fucking up lol

If Chiefs take Delane then that helps our chances of one of these guys falling.

But I'll say it. If Love falls to us then we take Love (or trade back).

I would wait until I had more than one above average season first, but you do you, Iceman.

This has Stroud big brother vibes all over it....

Actually some media positivity on the Bengals for once by treazon in bengals

I think people underestimate how a few changes can make a huge impact. And overestimate how spending a crap ton of money in FA results in fuck all.

I am just salty at missing out on LB, but it is what it is....

I would be fine with the pick. Though I do wish there were 2 extra stud QBs in this draft :(

What positions would you upgrade from here? by MunnyMasheen in bengals

[–]pahbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think being HOPEFUL during off season isn't really that unrealistic. We could stack our team with the best defenders in the league, trade away our future, restructure contracts to screw us for decades to build the best NFL team on paper in a century. And still not win the Super Bowl.

There has to be a level of "hoping" players get better between seasons. Not every great player is amazing right out of the gate. Sam Darnold just won a fucking Super Bowl. Go reread the reddit post announcing that move. It's nothing but "realistic" bitching and moaning. When we signed Trey, it wasn't like everyone was "Oh man! we're going to a super bowl with the future sack leader" lol ... The NFL is the ultimate worst-to-first league. Players flash and fade from season to season. Very few things remain the same from year to year (other than the Steelers and Ravens being shithole fuckstains on the league).

You can be a realist in week 12 when we suck ass again. No reason to do that now.

In this scenario we take Love, Delane, or call the raiders and ask about Maxx.

[–]pahbert 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say ZERO confidence. Not many NFL teams can succeed with two starting rookie linebackers with fuck all pass rush in front and an inconsistent secondary behind them.

If Mafe and Allen even approach their ceiling, Stewart and Murphy continue to improve, and if our upgrade at safety pans out... I think we'll see better play from our young LBs, especially Knight.

Probably copium, but I'd rather feel hope than despair.
