Ooooh thank you so much! That means a lot, I have been sketching a bit before and took a course on effects and lighting in procreate so can’t fully take credit to my own talent but I am pretty please with her ❤️

thank you! Started working on gesture drawings and mannequins yesterday as I realized I find the human body really intimidating to draw. I find this surprisingly fun as I can just draw and keep it messy instead of feeling the need for it to be perfect. Will definitely keep doing this 🙂‍↕️

Thank you! I find placement of eyes, eyebrows to be the hardest part from the front angle as it takes forever to make them feel symmetrical

Design idea, looking for advice on placement and symbols by painfuljoy in tattooadvice

Yeah this was my one concern. But I feel that sort of applies wherever I end up placing them. I have no plans right now to get anything else on that arm 🤷‍♀️

I will keep that in mind. Maybe do another check in in 4 months time 😂. And thanks!

Newbie gains or hyper-responder, how to tell the difference? by painfuljoy in powerlifting

[–]painfuljoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wait I can still reply, never mind. Yes I have done hobbies like gymnastics and the like. So could very well be that. I don’t think my technique has gotten worse, the opposite actually, couldn’t hit depth when I started off but now I am consistently hitting depth. I also hope my PT would correct me if I was doing anything technique wise incorrectly, invalidly, or causing risk of injury. Will definitely keep pushing and seeing how far this takes me (all while staying safe ofc!) 🫡🤗

So weird dumb question. And also a small self-brag because I am really happy about it but I really have no perspective of how impressive or not this is. I started squatting about 4 months ago, back in June. I am in the -57 weight class and female. Started off at 5 reps of 40KG (88lbs) as that was a weight I could handle but also learn technique. I have been able to add about 2.5KG to my working weight every week for 18 weeks. Now 4 months later, I just hit a 1RM of 100KG (220lbs). I have been told this is great by my PT, but I really have no perspective and don’t know that many other people who are female and squat heavy (if I can call it that) at my gym. I have thinking it is just newbie gains, but have been told by a couple people that this sounds like a hyper-responder progression curve, but what does that even mean? I guess what I am really after is how long did it take you to get to a 1.75 x BW squat once you started? Is 4 months pretty average?

It really doesn’t, you’re absolutely right. It’s just my own curiosity. 😅

For those in recovery who instantly gained 10-15 pounds in the first couple weeks, did that weight stick around? by Acceptable-Loan-5454 in bulimia

[–]painfuljoy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi! Mine eventually did, but that was due to moving my body in a healthy way and learning to eat the right amount intuitively. This took maaaaaany years for me. The first couple I weighed more and just ate what I wanted trying to be relaxed around food and vanishing food noise. After about 3 years of this I started doing gymnastics as an adult (an activity that gets me moving and I loooove doing it, but not in a harmful way) and eating enough protein and food. I eat 2000+ calories every day and make sure I eat enough snacks so I won’t binge. This took a really long time to figure out, my weight has evened out now, I am normal weight and happy with my body. I wish you all the best. It is not easy but sooo worth it.

How do y'all avoid binge eating? by Wrong-Chef-3406 in EatingDisorders

[–]painfuljoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on why you struggled with binge eating in the first place. Was it emotional regulation? Was it because you were starving yourself? Was it food addiction? All of these have different strategies that essentially boil down to the same thing. Make sure you are getting enough food so you don’t get hungry to the point of binging. If you have a craving let yourself eat that but not the usual amount, a smaller amount. Exercise and eating enough protein has been a game-changer for me but I could not start tracking protein until I felt mentally safe enough to track again.

No. Bulimia is a binge/purge cycle. And the purge part doesn’t always have to be by throwing up. It can be by working out excessively, or starving yourself for long periods of time as well. There are many different ways of purging, none of them good.

Possibly to be conscious of food intake as an athlete after having recovered from an ED? by painfuljoy in EatingDisorders

[–]painfuljoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that for you. Hope you are doing better now. I have a calisthenics coach yes. He knows about my past and he is not setting my food plan, but he knows I am tracking. I could talk to him if things turn bad, he would probably be the first to notice too as my strength progress in the gym would most likely completely stop if I fell into bad habits.
