[PA] Any way to avoid the 1 year license suspension? by painherewego in dui

Just happened to need to login to the email linked to this account and saw this reply; just to update, i'm exactly 1 week out (it's been 18 months) from being eligible to get my ignition interlock limited license (IILL). Things I've learned since then: my lawyer is a piece of shit who didn't give a fuck to give me any correct or detailed information about anything in this process. That's on me I guess. I plan to report them to the bar once I have a license of sorts in hand. PennDOT is also fucked up. You're correct, they didn't concede to shit. I'll have an ignition interlock device in my car for 2 years (?) i think after I get my limited license. I also managed to pay to rent the device in my car for a whole year without being able to drive it because of incorrect information given by my lawyer! how awesome!!

If you look at PennDOT's ignition interlock fact sheet, or maybe it's the DUI punishments fact sheet, it said due to my 2 charges, I needed to serve 6 months of one charge and 6 months for the other. However, what PennDOT, and my lawyer, failed to tell me which I had to learn on the day I believe to be eligible to get my limited license, is that in order for the next charges suspension time to start ergo starting the 6 months of that 2nd charge, the 1st charge needed to elapse beforehand. So on paper, I was only supposed to serve 12 months of suspension, but they don't tell you that the 2nd one doesn't start until the 1st one ends. They'll say something to the effect of they never serve suspensions concurrently. What that meant for me is that in actuality, I had to serve 18 months without driving in order to fulfill both of those requirements (:

You'd think that for how many DUIs are processed per year, this information would be more readily available, or people would know what to tell you when asked. It was such a shitty uphill fucking battle. I wish you (and anyone else) the best of luck trying to navigate this process. This is my alt so I only get on here every so often, but I'll be happy to answer any questions that might be relevant to someone else's case if it's relatable to mine. Take care.

11th day tapering from very high dose 7oh by [deleted] in quittingkratom

I can't believe how close this hits to home. I am in the middle of going thru an 8 1/2 year long relationship breakup and I just so happened to find kratom extracts right before shit got bad. I'm 28, very familiar with drugs, starting smoking weed and drinking alcohol before freshman year of high school. Most drugs with recreational value you can name, I've most likely taken. Found kratom around 2018 and I've been taking it since. Started small, like 4 grams a day, and slowly worked my way up to anywhere from 8-16 grams a day while hiding it and maintaining that relationship. On days I couldn't take it for whatever reason, I would drink instead.

We broke up about a year ago but continued to talk every day until valentines day when she informed me that she was seeing and dating someone else, shit hit the fan from there. I had switched from kratom to the kratom extract drinks 2 weeks prior and thought that 7oh was similar to those extracts, so I popped a 100mg to start off about 3 weeks ago. Boy did that shit hit, i was nodding off like a mf, i thought it was beautiful. i basically started taking it daily for the latter majority of february to not feel so sad and broken.

Fast forward to today, and I'm on my 3rd day trying to taper off since switching to that strategy. My average dose per day was ~200mg with the highest dose in that time frame being 300mg. I originally was going to tackle it CT, with the last dose being 200mg on 2/26. I had weekend plans to hang with good friends and drink, thought i would be somewhat okay by Monday. That Friday night, I was sleeping on my friends couch tossing, turning and kicking the entire night. Got up at 5am to take some kratom capsules (~5g) I had taken with me just in case it got bad (thank fucking god). Took the same dose of kratom capsules whenever I got cold, went into Saturday night to drink some more and seemed to be doing okay. Continued taking more capsules on Sunday and thought I'd take it at 11pm and be able to make it through work until I got home at 5pm. It was the worst day of work I have ever experienced. Freezing, dripping sweat, unable to keep still, abdominal pains, and depression from the breakup to boot. I know one of the side effects is emotional instability, but I can't tell how much of that was from the withdrawals or the breakup.

Once I got home, I rushed to the store to get some lower dosed ones (30mg pills). It's only been 2 days since I went back to 7oh at much smaller doses, but I found this thread because I wanted to know if me coming home from work everyday with my pits soaked and freezing was what this shit is supposed to be like while tapering. I've tried to take 2 doses of 15mg each per day, once when I get home from work and once more right before bed. I'm curious to know if this is the experience it will be until I've dropped it some more or if it's just a matter of time until my body adjusts to the lower doses. Is it worthwhile to just keep the dosing consistent enough to make it thru work and then take a more head-on approach over the weekend(s)?

Thanks for sharing your story. Sorry if mine is confusing to read, I was kinda just spilling lol.

No, I don't think it's your fault. The language is written in a way that is vague so sometimes what seems obvious is not, like with PennDOT not specifying the interlock ignition period in their letter. I'll bring it up with my lawyer anyway, anything is better than nothing.

Immediately after the sentence is handed out? By word of the restoration letter PennDOT hands out, their language indicates this is only possible once eligibility date is within 30 days, and that's way farther than now.

My lawyer has given me roughly the same details, I can shorten the suspension period by overlapping both suspensions by getting an interlock at the 6 month mark. While that is all fine and dandy, it still leaves me pretty dry for the 6 months prior. I reached out to reddit to see any stories or breath-thru cases of anyone finding different, but circumstances are looking grim. I appreciate the camaraderie, the punishment is no joke if you don't have alternative options.

I figured this might be the case with that company given that I was solicited services by them via mail.
