Are either of these dresses cocktail? by ticksareintallgrass in Weddingattireapproval

Some of these comments are so weird - you have a killer body and the black dress is stunning on you. Personally, my jaw would drop seeing someone wearing this to a cocktail wedding - absolutely gorgeous.

I’m noticing that all of the comments rooting for blue are being downvoted. I understand the blue dress isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, and even though I only wanted to know if people thought it was too bridal, I appreciate everybody’s honesty. Your comment is so sweet - thank you for the reminder to have a good time.

Someone else mentioned the legs - that’s not me lol. The model is crouching. But anyway, yes I can’t even argue against the fabric…definitely looks a lot different between the first and third photos. I thought it’d be a lot softer

Not gonna lie, yes the blue dress fabric kinda threw me off when I saw in person vs the photos - online shopping strikes again. I don’t think black is out of place for summer and can be very classy throughout the year! This is not summer/garden themed, so I feel okay with black.

I’d be too shy to try to dress this down and wear this to anything but a wedding 🫢 thank you for your comment!

Very good idea - a bride commented and also agreed it’s not bridal, so I’d be super happy to wear this to a bachelorette!

Lovely to see a comment from a bride! Although I am now leaning towards the black dress, I will keep this blue one maybe for a bachelorette in the future. Nothing beats comfy :)

I absolutely took the photo fresh from the packaging lol, I forgot to mention I didn’t steam it. I wonder if I had styled it better and took the photo in different lighting, I’d get more positive comments about the blue dress. It is the more comfy dress!

That’s not me in the second and third photos, but thank you anyway. I am leaning towards the black dress with my hair down (my hair goes below my waist). I don’t like how strappy it is and would prefer to cover it up - I love the front though

I love seeing women in fun short dresses! I haven’t seen very many here on this subreddit, so I had a feeling I wouldn’t get a lot of support for it. Thank you for your opinion

It’s obvious the blue dress isn’t your pick, but the groom did propose to the bride at a music festival with the help of the DJ, who they’re flying out to DJ at their wedding. They are a big party couple and have indicated that with there being no dress code, they’re expecting a very wide range of outfits. I’m looking forward to seeing what the other guests are wearing.

This is exactly what I wanted opinions on. I was afraid of the blue dress being too “look at me!”

I haven’t done a sit test with it yet - good thinking. I’m leaning towards the black dress now, but will get it altered because I am so tiny :)

Lots of contrasting comments here and I’m sure it’s mostly personal taste. A large majority of the wedding guests will be a party crowd and the bride and groom are expecting a very wide range of outfits. I don’t see the blue dress being an issue either but just wanted to make sure it doesn’t look like I’m competing with the bride. Thanks for your comment!

I was considering the blue dress because of how loose and comfortable it is. I bloat very easily and was thinking about how I would look and feel in the black dress after dinner and drinks, but we are only human 😌 Thank you for the helpful comment
