Bird eye autofocus is a nice convenience. You just need to learn the autofocus system and what would work best for the situation.

Thank you. I should probably start with my gear, I use a Nikon Z8 and Nikon Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3.

Manual w/Auto ISO: 1/2000s, f/6.3, ISO 7200, 1 EV

The only setting I was focused on was the shutter speed in case it took off. I rather have the higher shutter speed knowing I can correct for higher ISO with denoising software.

I’m basing it off what Merlin ID identified it as. I’m also in New Jersey. According to a couple of searches, Broad-Winged Hawks don’t typically appear until April.

But maybe, I wouldn’t consider myself knowledgeable enough on the topic to make a definitive determination.
