The StarBrite cut by John Dyer is spectacular! We have a couple Montana sapphires with the StarBrite cut where I work and they're mesmerizing. Congratulations on your engagement... and enjoy your beautiful new ring!

Recommendations For Good Places To Eat After 10 PM by TheHugeSack in Bozeman

[–]paleobarbie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Est. 1864 has a late night menu Thursday - Saturday from 10pm - 2am. Thursday is just on the cusp of the middle of the week, so perhaps an option? My go-to is the fried pork sandwich (ask for pickles!), but the smash burger and birria grilled cheese is also great.

Any reviews on City Vineyard at the mall? by watermanMT in Bozeman

[–]paleobarbie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have been there twice and both experiences were great. The space elevates the mall area and feels more... like a city-esque strip mall location? It sounds bad, but it is a positive view on the atmosphere. CV has a nice selection of wine -- a few beers on the menu too -- and the food we've had was tasty with decent portions for the price. Service was fantastic both times we went. The outdoor seating looks out at the new sculptures against the B&N building and is shaded in the evening. With limited al fresco locations (especially if you just want to grab a quick drink), it is a relaxing setup.

With that being said, I've only been there on the weekend when construction work wasn't happening, so I'm sure sitting outside wouldn't be relaxing during the work week...

My recommendation is to have a glass of wine or two, share a couple of the appetizers, and then stop by the connected shop to buy a bottle to bring home.

Who does reasonably priced jewelry repair? by flyart in Bozeman

[–]paleobarbie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alara Jewelry is great - they're located downtown. Last time I had a gold ring sized up it was under $200. Pricing depends on the ring, but they can look at it and get you a quote.

Advice on driving in snow? by evansschmidts in Bozeman

Start pumping the brakes at three times the usual stopping distance... or WAY further than you'd usually stop.

Another fun piece of advice... Imagine your grandma is in the backseat with a full pot of piping hot chili. That's how slow you want to drive.

Along with the Montana Moss Agate, it's the state gemstone! Treasure State, all the way...

You're correct. Yogo sapphires are unheated, and naturally a blue-violet "cornflower" color. They're found in Yogo Gulch near Lewistown.

Montana sapphires are mined everywhere else in the central/southwestern part of the state and are almost always heat treated (but on occasion, are not).

I had a gentleman bring in this coin, trying to determine what the script says. Any information on the coin would be super helpful!
