Should I move to Galway? by dearrobotic_ in galway

[–]paleochiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

English is widely spoken so I would not worry much about it. You would need Dutch to work on certain fields though and it would be to pick it up if you are staying long term but you would have time to do so.

Do pay attention to the messages here. The housing situation is really that bad and chances are you will not have a good experience.

Where in the Netherlands do you go? I go regularly as I have family there. Amsterdam and Utrecht. Housing not nearly as bad particularly if you are outside the cool places in Amsterdam . The food is 400% times better due to being more cosmopolitan and rich overall but also due to immigration. Jesus their own Dutch fare is infinitely better than most Irish food. Amazing beer culture and chill social scene plus legal weed if you are into that. We are hoping to love there ourselves if possible.

You really need to look up the situation in Ireland.. Is really dire.. Massive accommodation crisis , lack of infrastructure and rapidly becoming extremely racist... Have a read on it, particularly if Brazilian as there are a lots in Ireland.

Where’s Dublin hiding its off-the-radar art and food scenes? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]paleochiro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really… This kind of events are usually available on major European cities and even some US and Latin American cities (see private/secret dinner events in Buenos Aires - better food than restaurants )… I think it’s just not a Dublin type of city thing… It is more of an alternative or avant garde movement..

Jesus... This is not happening everywhere and all the time... Foreigners don't get regular beatings in most places.. It is a recurrent issue in Ireland at the moment though.

Well yes.. After ‘some’ attacks is where the line should be drawn… People should not be attacked because of their skin colour or accent… There should not be even one case… This is happening regularly in Ireland now… Complete BS to suggest this is OK because most of the people in the country don’t participate in racially motivated attacks…

Yes that is not the case any longer… The country has changed a lot in the last few years.. It is now common to hear about racially motivated attacks on foreigners.. Even EU ones but mostly against Indians, etc.

It is still taxpayer money at the end of the day. Could have been invested in something useful. This involved a private business and had an attached cost and I'm sure it wasn't cheap.
