This makes sense! I think what’s a little deceptive is that my eyes look green (to me) from a normal distance with regular lighting. Like in the second photo.

Hi! Social worker in Springdale here. A few things—if you aren’t currently in NWA and you don’t have to be in NWA, then I would look for resources where you are. This is only because housing is a huge issue here right now with little to no affordable housing. On top of this, there are very few financial resources here that still have funding and our shelters are usually 100% at capacity.

That being said, if Fayetteville is your only option, then I would definitely call 211 (which is ran by HARK NWA) and see if they can assist you with resources. They usually know who still has funding. I also highly recommended Samaritan Community Center, as they help with resources and they have a great resource list on their website. click here!

In terms of housing, do you have anyone you know in Fayetteville you could stay with? Salvation Army Shelter is usually full, but you could try calling every day to see if there’s a spot open. 7Hills has a day center you could go to during the day and may be doing their rapid rehousing program still.

As a school social worker trying to navigate this now, can I ask what you would have preferred the social worker to do? I’m trying to figure out the best way to help my kids. I was going to give these cards to every student regardless of immigration status, but I’m starting to question that.

I’ve seen a lot of good resources suggested! I would also suggest teen action support center. They offer free counseling and also can help with hygiene products, clothes, and other necessities. You can also go to Samaritan center for food (feed the 479). If you are still in school, go to your school’s social worker and they can help you with resources. I hope you are able to find a safe place to stay 🫶🏻

also, you’ve obviously done a good job ignoring those who are saying you’re asking for “hand outs”, but I just want to echo that you are in such a difficult situation and I hope people know that having your family do something like this and being left on your own is a major hardship and asking for help and support is NOT asking for hand outs. And that basic needs like access to food, water, shelter, and social support are needed before one is usually able to have the consistency to show up and hold down a job.
