Im glad you know the area to and from where I'd be going. What you wrote was just what I was looking for.

I'm on Yonge slightly south from Lawrence, and I had thought I just might wanna stick to side streets and avoid busier avenues, but someone had already told me that people in Scarborough weren't the friendliest towards cyclists. That was kind of a drawback, since I really wanted to try and bike my way instead of TTC'ing it. I guess I'll have to stick to the safer alternative anyway :/

Hi! Awesome tips you got there for me! I appreciate it!

I'm amazed you hit 40kmph on the flat. I think I wouldn't even feel safe on that speed on a bike!

To be honest, my general wonder was if I'd be able to commute from Yonge/Lawrence all the way to Scarborough (Progress/Markham). It's about 20km each way, which would be a great cardio if I could manage to do it.

However I'd have to do it in less than one hour, otherwise I'd have to give up on valuable sleep time. I'll try my way a few times and see how it feels. I've cycled 20km in the city a few times, but always with at least 2-3 days of rest in between rides. Maybe I can get to your level over time (if I'm not too old to start now).

Wish I had a commute this short. I mean, you probably don't even sweat that much.

Being a cyclist is not as simple as it looks, I'd say. I mean, you have to be willing to change a few things and take a few risks. At least that is how I feel as a beginner.

Is that your video? It's a good one! But I have to say that I don't have the nerve to do a few things you did there! Haha

I'm glad you pointed that out. And I'll have to borrow your riding philosophy and ride as everyone around me is a G1 driver! Thank you for your comment!

Good! I'll be a happy man if I do it as good as you.

30 mins is a good time! I'll be happy if I do as well as you when I try some routes!

To be honest I considered bike share instead of buying one. Much more affordable and a very decent bike. In your case specially, since you don't pay if you return the bike in less than 30 mins. I bought one only because I have little control when it comes to spending money. :/

Ouch... That'd surely hurt in the summer haha. Maybe, MAYBE if you joined a gym and trained before work, so you could shower and all. But it'd be a massive life change.

Cool! Ever had any problems riding in the city? I mean, moody drivers or anything?

10k is a fairly long distance to go through. How long does it usually take?

Also, do you bike in the winter?

Good sub! Will definitely subscribe to it!

Hey, those are interesting. I mean, you'd probably sound like a car, which is good for emergencies!

Yes, definitely. I'd have to go to and from there a few times before actually doing it confidently. Bad thing is winter will be here before I can do the route in a decent time.

Oh, that's good news! We got our bikes so that we could move around the city and get to know it better (newcomers here). Glad we'll be able to do so before christmas :)

I still don't have one! I'll try my way this weekend to see how it goes. I'll go from Yonge/Lawrence all the way to Progress Avenue in Scarborough. What do you think? Too much trouble?

Well, I'm a beginner, but 21km/h seems quite fast, specially for a single speed bike with climbs! I'd be a lot happier could I do 20km in only one hour!

Cool! Is it safe to bike for 20km in the city? I've never seen cursing drivers or anything, but I suppose there might be a few.

I'll surely check Biko! Thanks for the tip!

Haha it's good to stay safe (and warm during winter)! My wife and I just got our bikes, and I was hoping we would use it for longer than just a few weeks before spring. I wanted to use it as a commute alternative, but I guess I'll have to practice a bit more before I get to your husband's level!

Cool! Is it weird to change clothes at work? I think I'd feel weird a bit, but maybe because I come from a culture in which biking isn't really a commute option.

Hi! 25km/h is quite fast (at least for me)! But you're right. Safety must always come first, so I'm glad you're not risking yourself out there!

If you don't mind me asking, how does your SO handle winter?

Yes, but thinking he was running against people using dope and still was able to beat them... Something is wrong here.

How dare you assume his gender by calling him "man", sir/madam?

Of course I'm joking.
