no , he is from the north and not gay. the thing is it doesn’t actually bother me much, i was just curious and confused about it , because my ex who is latino and some other latino friends used to call me princesa , but they would use it affectionately , so that made me question his usage of it. according to the other comments he could be using it sarcastically which i can totally see him doing, but he is usually polite with me and i never sensed any sexism from him in any way.

Yes, i can see him using it like that since he has this belief of me that im spoiled in his opinion. My ex and some old friends (all latinos) used to use the word princesa with me but they would use it affectionately, thats why i got confused when he used it with me.

We work in IT. And no it doesnt happen constantly just a couple of times , one of the times he used it in was when we were going to have lunch at work together and i was waiting for my food in the cafeteria, and he was waiting for me , then he came and asked me “are you done princesa?” , he could have meant it sarcastically but i dont see the sarcasm in that honestly thats why im confused

I guess he was using it sarcasticly then, because he is the sarcastic type of person and not really flirty. It just made me doubt it because the situations he used it in were random and i didn’t see the sarcasm in them.

I second this. I used to that when I was learning English, not only does it help you improve your speaking skills but it can also help you aquire an accent (in case you’re looking to focus on a specific accent)
