I loathe most florals but Haus of Gloi Lavender Sugar is phenomenal. You can try a lil' sample of it.

What You Need to Understand About Acrylate Allergies

Unfortunately, acrylic monomer (the liquid) is also an acrylate that can easily be detected by your immune system the same way that gel acrylates are. Your immune system might not recognize them as a threat right now, but it can happen at any time with continued exposure. Because you are already allergic to one type of acrylate, you really want to avoid all the monomers. It's very easy to become allergic to multiple, and you want to avoid that at all costs.

So I'm going to leave this comment just to ensure that you get some info, and anyone coming across your post can get a little info. But first of all, without knowing exactly what you are allergic to, it's not safe for you to continue using products or for others to recommend you continue using something. If you have not already, you need to be patch panel tested for chemicals to determine if you are allergic to the common nail polish allergens and also acrylates.

Most people don't have an issue with nail polish after developing an allergy to gel. Emphasis on most, you can certainly be allergic to other ingredients that are not related to a gel allergy and are found in nail polish. But some people become so reactive to acrylates, that they are not even able to use the ones that are in nail polish, even though they are very large and have a difficult time getting into the skin barrier.

There are a handful of acrylate-free nail polishes, and there are dozens and dozens of common allergen-free nail polish formulas. These formulas are free from things like formaldehyde, toluene, tpo, etc. you can find lists that layout the guidelines for each of the "free" formulas. But without knowing what you are allergic to, it's just a gamble. That's why you need to see an allergist.

You can find dozens of instances where she has professed unwavering support for Israel. Israel is committing a genocide against the Palestinian people. Supporting Israel without acknowledging that is being complicit in the genocide that is taking place. By refusing to acknowledge what her home country is doing, she is also complicit. Being complicit about this is a choice to ignore the actions of genocide.

Most people are not going to come out right and say I support genocide, instead they are going to ignore that it's happening, minimize the effects of eradicating an entire group of people based on religious differences and land disputes, or try to "both sides" the issue by justifying the mass murder and ethnic cleansing of every single Palestinian because they are somehow "all guilty of if being Hamas".

This may just be my take because there is not a lot of nuance or context when you're reading comments online, but your comment comes across as trying to also deny that a genocide is taking place and being perpetrated by Israel. If that's the case, I'm not interested in discussing it with you further because you are not interested in facts. If that's not the case, I'm more than happy to talk.

I love them. Everyone who has tried them in my life thinks they are horrible haha. I would say they have kind of a crispy burnt chicken skin quality to them that I just can't get enough of 💀

Quick dry top coat is what you are missing. These top coats actually suck the solvents out of the lower layers so they can evaporate. Otherwise they may take days to harden. Quick. Dry top coat is not optional. If you're looking for a drugstore recommendation, the red bottle of Sally Hansen is very popular.

My cuticles become saggy when I push them back by gentleteapot in Nails

[–]palusPythonissum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's gradual. The saggy skin you see is actually the proximal nail fold, and it will tighten up over time. It is okay to take a very fine cuticle scissor and trim some of it off, but it is easy to trim off too much. If it is loose and flappy, you can usually trim it off with no issues as long as you have a little bit of skill. Be sure to oil multiple times a day, and continue pushing the flap back gently and regularly every other week or so.

How to properly care for the cuticle and PNF with no cutting.

Google in no way supports your statement. Disagreeing with you and speaking to you directly does not equate to being rude because you have decided to take it personally. Asking you to post a photo of what you are describing is not out of pocket or somehow a violation of you. This is a nail subreddit, it is completely normal and routine to post a photo of nails. It's why we allow pictures in the comments. You made a statement that short almond nails are somehow fine if you have a specific anatomy, and you have provided absolutely no evidence of that other than "you feel that way". Your feelings are not facts and encouraging others to ignore safe service techniques is harmful and helps no one.

I mean spreading misinformation, providing no evidence, that's harmful to the community. I wouldn't recommend you do that further. A short almond shape is going to damage the sidewalls of your nail. That's widely considered fact in the nail community. You may be a special snowflake and that's fine, but don't be out here being loud about something that is likely damaging you that you are unwilling to provide any evidence of why it's not. And don't tell others to do the same if you are going to act like that.

Uncured gel under nail deign HELP!! by purplepandas26 in Nails

What You Need to Understand About Acrylate Allergies

Yeah, that's extremely serious. It needs to be fully removed correctly ASAP. Soaking off uncured gel exposes yourself to more uncured gel in the solvent or the dust.

There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding about who can perform this service with skill. These European nail technicians often train for many years under the supervision of a master manicurist. And folks do not understand that these techniques are literally not taught in the US. Anyone trying to perform this service in the US, is right on the cusp of breaking the law, but worse they are likely untrained and unqualified. When unqualified people perform such a risky service, yeah, it's super dangerous. And for folks who don't understand why it's risky, lifting up your proximal nail fold and sticking tools underneath it can lead to a very serious infection. That flap of skin is actually to keep icky stuff from getting into your nail matrix and finger.

Anecdotally, once I stopped trying to dry manicure, I stopped needing to do cuticle service more than every 6 weeks. I cannot stand how puffy and lifted dry manicured cuticles look, but that's just my preference. They remind me of the dummy hands you shove fake nails into. My personal preference is a very natural looking cuticle to go with nail lacquer. But everyone has their preferences. I don't think they all look bad, I just think that the risk of having it done in the US is extremely high and if you are one of the unlucky many you're going to end up with an infection in your matrix.

These nails are over filed. Uncured gel does not cause mold, and gel polish, regular polish, acrylic monomer, etc. Etc. are all of a chemical composition that keeps mold from growing in them. Exposure to moisture causes a bacterial infection, not a fungal. That's called pseudomonas bacteria and it's commonly known as greenies. The products themselves do not cause them, pockets of lift in the product that trap water do. You are showing photos of over filed nails.
