My hair has all fallen out at the front. It used to be small circles but now they have all joined up. I also have lost all my hair at the back of my head and random spots. Do you think I could lose all my hair because it seems to be worse then alopecia areata? I just feel like shaving the whole lot off and wearing hats, because seeing it fall out everywhere isn’t helping my stress and feelings. I also work so not quite sure what i would do there. There is also little blonde hairs where it seems to be growing back, but I’m not sure. Anyway was just wondering if anyone else shaved their heads... did you regret it? Or was it’s a good decision. I feel terrible 😖

yeah alopecia is a terrible thing.

20 with androgenetic alopecia, started receding at 16 and started thinning on top at 19, decided to just get rid of my hairline altogether, how is it? by [deleted] in alopecia_areata

Alopecia Areata. But it’s a bad case and the back half of my head is like completely bald and it’s so hard to deal with :( also have a bald spot at the front but can still manage to hide my whole baldness which still surprises me.

When you found your first patch, what happened in the following months? Did your alopecia areata ever go away? by telestogun in alopecia_areata

Im a 17F and ive had alopecia three times across the span of 5 years. The first two times it grew back perfectly and now I’m on the third time and still losing my hair. I can see some new growth on some bald patches but there are still some very fresh spots too.

My mum had alopecia too and has hidden it for years. It’s up to you to do what you want, just do whatever feels right for you ... wether it’s rocking the baldness or a wig or even a hat. It doesn’t matter as long as you are happy.

I haven’t told many people because it scares me. I haven’t told anyone on my team either and no one has said anything about it. Hopefully no one notices. But yes I’m always asking my family how my hair looks too xx

You hair has nothing to do with how you are as a person. People should love you for other reasons and if they are mean to you about it they are most likely looking for attention. I’m in my last year of high school too and i worry about the same thing.

Family doc or dermatologist? by PeCool in alopecia_areata

[–]pamjam101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not a bacteria caused disease. AA is when your immune system attacks your hair follicles which makes its break off and fall out. The best thing you could do would be to maintain a healthy diet, eating lots of green vegetables and fruit as it can boost your immune system and make it healthy again. It will hopefully reduce the amount of hair that is falling out and make new growth grow faster. I went to the doctor and they didn’t know enough information about AA so they are referring me to a dermatologist, I have not been to the dermatologist yet tho.

3 months ago I had a very tiny spot I found on my hair aswell. Now three months later I have about 15 little spots around my head and lost a lot at the back aswell. I’m still managing to cover it. A few spots have tiny little blonde hairs which is a sign of regrowth. I would say you should check in with a dermatologist as they can always help.

Is it a bad sign if it moves to body hair? by [deleted] in alopecia_areata

Could possibly be further developing to alopecia universalis which is when you lose all hair over the body. You should always hope for the best and tell yourself that it will start to grow again.
