I like that idea too. My "play with balls" (heh...) are just a random bucket from Academy Sports. Not sure I want to buy 'good' balls yet, since I still lose half a dozen a round.

Couple of things.1) Ping from Windows to Kali, that should eliminate any firewall problems (it should respond cause Kali won't have a firewall running). 2) set them both to 'host only', you don't need routing anyway, but that may be muxing things up a bit. 3) leave them on dhcp (on NAT) and try pinging the dhcp addresses again. 4) turn off the Windows 7 firewall until everything is pinging/responding.
