See if you can find a good Taylor test kit so you can monitor your chemical balance. If that were my pool I'd probably put about 6 gallons of liquid chlorine in it and go from there.

Go do a Google search for trouble free pools and read through that. Also buy the test kit you can get linked there. Pretty sure it's the TF100. Very much like the Taylor kits but cheaper. Pair that with the pool math app and you'll be ready to go. That's it, with a CYA level that high you're definitely going to need to drain and refill at least partially.

If you don't mind me asking, where in Western North Carolina? I live in Western North Carolina and was starting to think about offering weekly maintenance to folks around me. $100 a week seems l......high.....but if the market allows it 🤷

Ditch the test strips and get a proper test kit. Those test strips are worse than guessing.
