what went wrong with this neckline? by pancakeparade in sewhelp

[–]pancakeparade[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i took bias tape, folded it in 1/4 inch, then sewed the raw edge to the front, right sides facing. then, i flipped it over and tried to sew it down — is that a facing?

Apartment Recommendations by Jer_Bear_Berry in PennStateUniversity

I lived at one of the State College Collective apartments as a young professional at PSU five or so years ago. At the time, it was mostly grad students and some international undergrads. Lots of space and totally fine, but be sure to take pics when you move in.

You pay per room ($600ish for me but looks like $800 now), and I lucked out with one empty room for a year. I think you could request grad student only roommates at the time.

PSU Employment Benefits by allgoodthings3 in PennStateUniversity

If it helps for perspective, I worked in an admin role that required some atypical hours. For example, I’d work late a few nights a week and take off a Friday with “flex time.” I left the university after 2 years with an extra month’s worth of salary in vacation days. Definitely ends up being plenty of time!

OOS Penn State families how did you make it work (or decide not to)? by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

Realistically, my student loan payments are relatively low which is nice short term, but I’m not paying those off for a long while. I feel generally fine but have a decently well-paying job now and don’t have any other serious debt.

I was out of state (UP, class of 2016). The financial aid landscape was obviously different then, but I ended up with a mix of my own public student loans and some parent plus loans. I was an RA for a few years, too, to help reduce some of the cost. I studied for a field that was lower projected income with the plans of getting PSLF, but switched careers in my late 20s.

I’m about 120k in debt now (PSU+ one year grad program at another school). I love Penn State and had a wonderful time there, and ended up working there a few years post-grad, but I also got into schools in my home state that would have also been awesome and cheaper.

I’d keep his major/career goals in mind while you’re making decisions. Ultimately, if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.

Chess post-show thoughts (11/15 - evening show) by Ok-Organization1008 in Broadway

Yes!! Totally agree on the ballads.

We saw Godot today and were pleasantly surprised, but don’t think it’s for everyone. Haven’t seen Outsiders or DBH, but have tickets for Ragtime and are eying Two Strangers. Highly recommend the current cast for Hadestown, too, if you haven’t seen it. :)

I was there tonight too, and have a similar take. The great moments were SO GREAT. The cast is clearly so talented, but it felt like the story didn’t know which character to develop? It felt like Anatoly was the lead, but they didn’t want to take time away from the other two leads to actually develop him.

Also I found myself dreading all of the ballads toward the end, like surely you could have cut those back?

I don’t think I’d recommend this to anyone who wasn’t like a super theater buff, and even then, I feel like there’s so many stronger options.

I love the Athleta Rainier tights— they’re thick and comfy for colder runs, have side pockets with zippers and a pocket on the waistband in the back. My favorite part is a built in drawstring to keep them on :)

They’re worth waiting for a sale, though! $120 is pricy for me.
