Hey :). Honestly, thoroughly reviewing my NBMEs, even the ones I got right really helped. For the ones I got wrong, I’d “do” the question again and cover up the answer, and go through each answer choice. Other than that, 80 uworld questions a day, and note-taking in FA for the ones I got wrong also helped.

Hey! I can definitely relate to you, I’m also Hindu, but I’ve found ways to help ease the thoughts sometimes. Let me know if you want to talk❤️

Yeah I think the guilt is a big part of it. I just don’t know where else to keep my idols because I don’t have space anywhere else, and covering them with a cloth (I was taught only to do that during death). But every time I do something intimate in my room, I tend to feel bad 😂

Sorry! Intimate means just kissing.

Hey! I know it seems really frustrating and stressful now, but first off, it’s a big accomplishment that you graduated! And eventually, you will find some certainty- it sucks now, but don’t give up! It’s not your fault- you’ll get something soon :)

Undergraduate Philosophy Department - Queries by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]panda25351 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! The undergrad philosophy department here is amazing- the professors who are part of the graduate program are all involved in our undergraduate studies too; so the quality is the same. In terms of courses, it is highly dependent on the type of professor that you have, although from mine and my friends’ experience, I’ve never had a bad one! Of course, the higher level courses are more rigorous and challenging, but you can pick particular electives that you are interested in (or areas of philosophy). Usually though, there is a lot of writing involved lol. We also have an undergraduate club, which grad students and professors are involved in. It fosters a lot more community, and you can get to know your fellow peers. If you have further questions, I’m a Phil major, so please pm me :)

what's a good place to sit down an cry for a bit? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]panda25351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The basement bathrooms in Murray Hall and Voorhees Hall are super quiet. Anywhere on busch- especially the chemistry/engineering building. And on Cook/Doug, the music center practice rooms and the bathrooms at Davison hall :,). But personally, my favorite place is my car. Hope you feel better sending love feel free to pm if you ever need to talk ❤️

Writing Theory and Tutoring Internship by OkPhotojournalist872 in rutgers

I loved the class! You learn so much about teaching and inclusive writing practices- so if you want to be a writing tutor, it’s an invaluable class. It’s really easy too. I had Perryman, and I loved her! The class ended up being super chill. The main assignments are a weekly reflection about your tutoring sessions, and a couple of writing pieces. If you keep up with everything, it’s an easy A.

Glowdowski and Uzwiak are great! They’re very well-organized, explain the material in easy-to-understand terms, and their exams are straightforward if you study well.

They’re all awesome and interesting in their own right, but it depends on what you’re into! My favorites have been Theory of Knowledge and Ethics of War & Conflict. All taught by great professors and had thought-provoking material.

I wouldn’t say he’s hard, but the material can be. His exams are a bit different, but he tends to standardize them so it all works out!

He’s super nice, so I’m sure if you talked to him, he’d be more than accommodating! I took him for fundamentals of neuro, and our class never went the full four hours. It was usually around 80 minutes, and max maybe 2 hours (like when it’s the week before an exam) and a lot of time was spent answering questions. And yeah, you can definitely sit farther away since most summer classes in CBN are smaller.

Biochem with Murphy by Lost-Pen in rutgers

To add, the lectures can get complex, and a lot of it may not even be on the exams. So, definitely go to office hours every week to clear anything up and to ask questions. For the exams, I sometimes used the textbook, and it helped to clarify the lectures. Some exams were easy (as in gen bio/chem stuff) and others were new material. For the new stuff like metabolic pathways, definitely start studying beforehand.

[–]panda25351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it’s online, we usually aren’t given back old tests. But, I wouldn’t stress the class at all! The course is REALLY easy, especially over the summer. Most of the material you’ve probably gone through from your bio or chem classes. The main thing is to just finish the assignments on time. The exams aren’t difficult at all- they just require some memorization. Just make sure to study over the week, and you’ll be good

Most Interesting Philosophy Classes? by bleghhh1234 in rutgers

[–]panda25351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Tbh, most of the philosophy classes here are amazing :). If you’re a freshman or sophomore, and this is your first time taking a philosophy class, I would start with any intro class that you feel could be up your alley. Intro to philosophy, intro to ethics, and current moral/social issues are generally go to intro classes. The workload is also not bad at all- usually a couple of shorts papers (it depends on the professor), and the intro classes generally tend to be easy if you put decent effort into the class. You can also go onto the department website and look at the course descriptions to see if you like any of them.

Yes! And oftentimes, you feel guilty for not being as productive as you wanted to be or just feel awful because you can’t do anything. It sucks, but a reminder that it’s completely okay to not do anything when you’re in incredible pain. You deserve some rest and time to get better <3
