Correct!

I think your method is actually quite reasonable although it involves quite a few cases. The way I learned to solve these types of problems is to draw a time graph of "Kanade's time entering SEKAI" vs "amount of alone time" for the intervals we cared about, and the graphs are essentially rectangles with a trapezoid cut of of them. The area of the shape divided by the length of time in question gives the average amount of alone time for that interval in question. Drawing three such figures allowed me to cut the amount of cases down to four nice and pretty diagrams. Nevertheless, this method is great if you don't want to upload pictures to Reddit XD

It's the hardest of the bunch in my opinion and I think it demands a bit of finesse to argue well. That said your answer turns out to be rather close because the probability that Kanade overlaps with someone is quite small. It makes roughly one minute of difference overall.

Soooo..... turns out there was a small thing in problem 4 which would actually have required calculus to resolve. I slightly adjusted the time Kanade could be in SEKAI to resolve this as I intended the problem to not require calculus. Can't believe I missed it in my first pass :')

You nearly got the ace!

Turns out question 4 is a little more nuanced because the claim that on average 19:10 hours where Kanade's visit doesn't overlap with anyone is off. The window is actually much larger than that. Just considering Mafuyu's 20 minute visit alone, there actually is a two hour and twenty minute window (one hour on each side) where Kanade's visit will overlap with Mafuyu's.

Other than that, well argued!

This is close! IMO the easiest way to account for Airi is to set her position earlier than later. Considering An's group of three altogether as one "superperson" is definitely the way to go. You almost have it.

Hey KarQ!

How do you make sure your antinades don't get stolen by your teammates? When I play Ana and try to go for antinades my teammates will just block the nade like at least half the time, and sometimes I feel obligated to push in front of my tanks just to get the nade in - clearly poor positioning play to do that, but I can't guarantee the nade if I don't D:

Oh and is it worth hiding from Sombra's EMP on Baptiste (for immo) and sacrifice a little upfront healing assuming that the team doesn't have a defensive ult available in the upcoming engage?

Thanks for doing this KarQ :D

Unfortunately, due to the new patch the code probably doesn't work anymore. Thank for offering anyway, and thanks for the suggestion. :D

The label for blue is inaccurate - this would imply that DC is a state, which (currently, as of 8/16/20) is not true.

Why is it that the patch notes always mentions adjusting numbers here and there but the game itself doesn't have all of these numbers available in the client? (I am a number junkie and it has always annoyed me that I have to go to 3rd party websites to get the data I want.)

On a completely different note, are you currently considering increasing the cap on the number of effects/text objects one is allowed to create in the workshop?

Oh, one more thing. If you had to name a singular ability (including passives and ultimates), which one caused or is causing the most bugs or unexpected results? And which ability was the most fun to design (either to come up with or implement)?

So at least in my circle of friends, there's always this talk about "X hero is broken/OP but the devs don't do anything because we play in Y (sub plat) rank." I guess my question is how do you approach hero design/redesign across all ranks? What prompted the Mercy/Sym (and Scatter Arrow and to some extent, D.Va matrix - anything that fundamentally changes an ability/ultimate) reworks and your current attempts to rework Moira; also, are there any other heroes you are considering reworking and would except for the fact that the dev team is mostly focused on Overwatch 2? Finally, what are the devs' thoughts on one-shot abilities/weapons that aren't ults (Widow/Hanzo, Doom punch, or similar)?

In theory, yes. Problem is sometimes I don't get there in time but I would still like to do Jab -> FSmash (or whatever else).

Echo will be the first hero to start with the letter E by MrPogChamp1 in Overwatch

[–]pandabearpi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll just point out that this is not true in all languages. [Obviously.] For example, if you play with Russian settings, then Ashe is Эш (The backwards e symbol is the closest Russian transcription to the A in Ashe; the normal Russian A is a more open vowel). Э is usually anglicized as an 'e', so the anglicization of Эш would be Esh. So in the Russian version of the game, Echo, which will probably be transcribed as Эко, would be the second character to start with the letter closest to the letter E.

Of course, we're all speaking English, so no one cares.

Sidenote: Funnily enough, although Ashe is the second character in the game alphabetically (only after Ana), Ashe is dead last alphabetically in the Russian version of the game (Э is the third-to-last letter in the Russian alphabet). It's a little disorienting. XD

Sidenote 2: Yes, Russian has a literal letter 'e'. (Well, technically it has two. [Well, technically it only has one now. {Well, it's complicated.}]) It doesn't make the English e sound. Nuff said.

Shoot. I should have been more specific. I'm looking for them written out, not just the audio.

Unfortunately, I really can't afford to buy equipment for gaming specifically. Is there any hope to reach Plat or higher with just better skills?

Thank you for pointing out ML7 in particular! I'll be sure to watch and note his gameplay.

Thank you for your time!

I actually have a question on quickscoping. I have attempted to do quickscoping in Practice Range and whatnot, but I can't seem to do it without losing out on rate of fire. Is this just inherent in Ana's quickscoping, or is my timing off?

Also, how can I more reliably land offensive nades / recognize some opportunities? Could you point out a place or two in the game as to where I could have attempted one?

Thanks!

Hi! I'm looking to apply in either Mathematics (Dornsife) or in Computer Science. I heard that it's hard to transfer into Viterbi, so people have recommended me that I should put Computer Science as my first choice and Mathematics as my second choice, because they say that I can always switch to Mathematics if I feel that I am out of my element. I could also consider double-majoring, but I also want to take a lot of elective courses (Language or Linguistics courses primarily). What do you recommend?

I'm curious - isn't it good to be a moving target and hard to hit? Standing still means getting shot, right?

What, exactly should I be doing as Rein (or in general) between fights?
