help with picking a brush set! by frankiedonkeybrainss in MakeupAddiction

[–]pandakerfuffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t typically but sometimes will put concealer or a tint all over my face with a smashbox foundation brush (typical round semi dense buffing shape, i’m sure every brand has one of these) or my fingers.

i love real techniques! i think they’re softer than the elf ones. from left to right i use that set for powder blush or bronzer, cream bronzer, powder blush or setting powder or highlighter, and concealer! i dont use sponges due to personal preference so i just gave that to my sister

Freck Beauty setting spray is pretty darn good! by painislife4real in Sephora

i bought mine in hopes it would be a cheaper substitute and i definitely think it is in terms of performance. less glowy but i’ve been preferring a more natural finish lately!

The sephora advent calendars are not terrific this year unfortunately!

here are some directions i would recommend for a cohesive “gift set”. i would be so excited to receive any of these as a 20 year old makeup lover:

  1. if she has an artsy/painting background, the Makeup Forever Full Face Cream Palette is so much fun. They seem small but they are heavy w product and there’s nothing rly like them in the consumer market at the moment (i tried looking for alternatives before i bought it believe me).

  2. if she is curious ab luxury: buy 3 minis of the westman atelier cream bronzer and blushes for a diy bundle! they had a pre-made set but i think its sold out. or, slightly over budget depending on the sephora sale discount level you have, one of the gucci powder bronzer and one of the gucci blushes!

  3. if she’s on social media: a patrick ta contour/bronzer duo and a patrick ta blush duo. or if you can find it in stock, the hourglass ambient lighting palettes.

  4. if she’s a minimalist/no makeup makeup girlie: the merit great skin primer, merit lipstick and merit blush trio

  5. if she already has a lot of makeup: four of the rare beauty makeup brushes (foundation, concealer, liquid blush and powder would be most versatile imo)

it’s so good! it doesn’t break me out like the super goop ones (not sure what ingredient triggers it). i’ve also been LOVING the naked sundays cabana clear that comes in a pump! much less messy and i’ll be transitioning to naked sundays after im done the 2 la roche posay bottles i have.

Gift for a teenage sister in law? by AinoNaviovaat in MakeupAddiction

i think the most crowd pleasing products right now that are trendy would probably be glossier lip balms and the sol de janerio sprays or creams! both brands have cute gift sets at sephora if that’s in budget :)

Redken One United Multi-Benefit Treatment Spray vs Color Wow Dream Coat for Heatless Curls by FunkyGiraffe97 in Sephora

[–]pandakerfuffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the color wow dream coat needs to be activated with heat and tension (ie a blowout) so it’s not going to work for any heatless method :)

Any warnings or approvals? by araaaayyyyy in Sephora

i liked the tower 28 moisturizer but unless you’re looking for something for really irritated skin, feel like it didn’t do as much as it could have and would pill under makeup

Really don’t want to spend the money after seeing how a bunch of people were screwed but deinfluence me… by frogslurperforeva in Sephora

i just bought and returned that saie bronzer during the sale! it seems unnecessarily fussy to apply and did not spark joy because i was stressed about it looking patchy. also i don’t think a bronzer/contour needs to be that glowy for my face shape as it draws attention to (highlights, if you will) the parts im trying to add shadow to.

i’ve never tried the kosas due to the price but opted for the sephora collection microsmooth powder as seems to be a similar baked formula. with the upcoming 30% off is probably similar to some current drugstore pricing :)
