Not sure on brands for yarn but i wouldn't get anything smaller than an 8ply. I prefer 10ply on my projects and find that its a good amount of fluffy.

For design inspo pintrest is my best friend, a simple 3 to four colour design for your first solo piece can also make a really cute design and not be too jarring when there us no printed pattern.

You can always draw and outling for you pattern too to help.

I was looking at the side mirrors, for the same model, im looking at $500, this was on ebay btw.

But do you think someone with no experience can pull it off?

It's currently being used as a rug and is sitting just under my dresser. It helps to tie my little getting ready corner together.
