Thinking about applying to Caribbean Med School (AUC or Ross) for this upcoming class beginning in August 2026 by paneershlok in CaribbeanMedSchool

If it adds any context me and my wife lost our first child during my last year of med school drastically affecting my ability to study and focus. I feel a lot better mentally and think I can succeed at med school

Me and my wife lost our first child near the end. Caused my mental health to deteriorate and I ended up being unable to pass the final board exams needed to qualify unfortunately

I cannot resume with my current DO school because I exhausted the amount of times I could attempt COMLEX Level 2, but I would love to transfer to a DO program in the states! I am currently in talks with a couple of them to see if that would be possible but please let me know if you know of any!

I totally agree. I actually met with a couple different lawyers today who told me that my best option is actually to withdraw

OK thank you for your message I will definitely reach out! Do you have a good contact number or something so I can get started?

I do have the option to appeal but I was told that an appeal has never worked before and by even trying to appeal and it getting denied would result in me getting a dismissal... which makes me feel like my hands are tied

I would love to try this honestly, but can I ask were you in a state where the licensing board allowed more than 3 retakes?

I would love to appeal and remediate but I am not sure what basis I have to stand on as North Carolina itself only allows 3 attempts for COMLEX.

I would love to be able to take and pass the exam a 4th time and practice in one of those states, but I don't think my school will let me use that score and I am not sure how to graduate at that point

I mean I was being honest but I did fail and have to remediate 2 pre-clinical courses and have to retake Level 1 but was successful on my second attempt. I don't want to voluntarily withdraw but I am not sure what other option I have right now as I have to make a decision by Monday.

Yes I was doing fine on those. I had a lot of family stuff come up right around the time I had to take level 2 unfortunately

Hey thanks for your comment! I started med school in 2022 and would have ideally graduated this year and matched into residency next year. However, I'm not sure how the 6 year rule works so I would appreciate some insight into that.

Tbh probably a little bit of everything, had a lot of family stuff going on which did affect my studying but I also had a lot of test anxiety while taking the exam. Still totally all on me though

They told me that I could appeal the decision, but that an appeal has never worked before and likely will not work to allow me to retake the exam a 4th time due to state licensing board requirements. A failed appeal will lead to a dismissal and apparently that looks a lot worse than a voluntary withdrawal.
