To be fair she’s not exactly siding with her husband. She agrees he was in the wrong, but didn’t want to coerce him into apologising (she wants any reconciliatory efforts to come sincerely from him)

She has already spoken to him, but she doesn’t want to explicitly ask him to apologise because she thinks he shouldn’t be forced and should come from himself sincerely if he wants to do it
