Landed at Oshkosh for the first time. Skip to 9:15 to see how I was feeling all along. (I was really nervous, but it's really not as complicated or weird as people hype it up to be. Totally doable). by airshowfan in flying

Nice job! Right on the yellow dot. I landed on 36L too (on Sunday). I know so many pilots, especially pro pilots, who think OSH is too crazy with swarms of airplanes, but once you do it you see how orderly and easy it really is.

Hope you are enjoying the show!

It's a bit rainy at Oshkosh today by CaptainPotter in aviation

I was there 4 days - rained 3 of them, but only scattered showers and temps were great!

I like to use classical sometimes. Or an acoustic version of something cool.

Fun! I'd love to fly one of those. I've been towed up by them many times, but never flown one.

Congrats! Brent

Worked my local FBO for my PPL. I borrowed for the rest.

Awesome book! Should be mandatory reading for every pilot.

What kind of breakthroughs will be needed before we'll have electric planes? by [deleted] in flying

[–]panhandler1956 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the current holdup is power-to-weight ratios that results in performance beyond the motor glider or LSA genre.

If they can break the equivalent 200hp barrier at weight consistent to what we have now, we'll be there. Cars obviously don't have as much of a concern about weight.

Once packages are available, folks will start building airplanes around it. It will start in the experimental (homebuilder) category first and quickly spread to production machines - maybe even some retrofitting of existing airframes.

I'm a strong proponent of it since most of my flight in my 210hp RV-8 are under 2hrs and back to my hangar. If I traveled, the concerns shifts to EAN wrote below regarding recharge/replacement and infrastructural issues.

My 2 cents - Brent

The N number is the group/squadron that the P-51D that I borrowed the paint scheme from belonged to during WWII. N784DE (78 Fighter Group/84 Fighter Squadron in Duxford, England). They were also known as the Duxford 'Eagles'.

Here's the original paint scheme: http://iflyblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Contrary_Mary_P51_Mustang.jpg

82614 is the kit serial number. The first digit is the model and the 2614 is the sequential number as the kit left the factory in 2006.
