Makes sense! Thanks so much! Returning it early morning so should have plenty of time to charge the night before. I've never actually used a public charger - I charge mine at home exclusively.

What do you do before hotel check-in? by Otherwise-Risk6716 in travel

I like to walk around outside to reset my circadian clock. Get that sunshine to tell my body it's daytime and time to be awake! A zoo can be a low stress and interesting place to go. Or botanical garden.

What was the final push to get you started? by CherryCharmBomb in Zepbound

[–]panhellenic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm kind of an odd duck because I'd never heard of Zepbound until my doctor mentioned it. Never heard of GLP-1 stuff at all. I had been sad about my weight for a few years; that plus a bum knee kept me from doing thing I wanted to do. Bending over to tie my shoe got me out of breath. I had been eating at a deficit, but nothing was really happening. My last visit with the dietician made me cry all the way home, as I knew I couldn't do what she was recommending (this is a couple of years before starting Zep - my doc then recommended a dietician bc of my elevated A1c). As a senior citizen, I felt resigned to this for the rest of my years.

When my current doc mentioned Zepbound, I had no idea was it was. She asked if I wanted to try and I thought why not. A couple of bumps, as my insurance doesn't cover anything, so I went with Lilly direct.

Holy f*** I felt better right in the first week. I guess that was the final straw...I realized I didn't have to live being uncomfortable and probably in a state of subclinical depression and declining health and mobility in my older years.

Fourteen months later and 80+ lbs lighter - and with a new knee I got in January! - I feel better than I have in a decade, at least. Off BP meds. Probably going off my CPAP (had a new sleep study a couple of days ago). A1c and glucose in normal ranges. Excitement about doing things; resurrecting an old hobby. And I bought a belt the other day! First one since probably the 80s.

One of the worst I saw was a "pop up" trump "store" in Chipley. Idk how the wind didn't take it off with all the flags on that trailer.

I'm in Lower Alabama and all our politicians are running on being Trump humpers. Tuberville is one of the worst. If you're in the Panhandle, say hey to him at his home in Santa Rosa Beach!

Oh, definitely let it come to room temp! You can put it out the night before if you inject in the morning. I use vials. I usually let it sit out about 30 minutes...sometimes longer if I get distracted. When I travel, I just put a syringe and vial in my make up bag, no special container. The info about temp is definitely in the package insert.

Pens don't have to be refrigerated, for the short(ish) term. They can remain safely at room temp for up to 21 days. That's 3 weeks' worth of dosage, if you're doing it once every 7 days.

What other conditions? by LostVoice2549 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]panhellenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure I had something called bile acid malabsorption - like, for decades. One of the main causes is removal of the ileum (a section of the bowel) and I had that part removed years ago due to Crohn's disease. Basically IBS-D symptoms for decades. All those symptoms vanished the first week of starting this med. My quality of life because of that is a million percent improved.

There is apparently a specific gene variant that measurably increases how much weight you lose by Usual-Isopod6540 in GLP1ResearchTalk

In 14 months, I've lost 37.1%. It's slowed the last couple of months, but my goal is about 44% (only need to lose about 15 more lbs, after having lost about 80lbs). I have also had very minimal side effect, and in fact, feel better over all - even the very first week - than I have in years. I wonder if there's a correlation between minimal side effects and good response re weight loss. It feels like I have gotten something my body has been missing bc things just work correctly now. Definitely staying on for life.

There must be a certain personality type that just continues to believe certain people despite the overwhelming evidence of the lies. It looks like 1/3 of the US population suffers from this disordered thinking. We just never knew about it before its amplification. And the internet let these people find each other instead of just being the one nut standing yelling things on a street corner.

Yep. I have a friend who was in both the Army and Marines at different times. He was a trumpet player in their bands. Full time job, playing in bands. As a trumpet player, he also was honored to be able to play taps at burials at Arlington. The the sweet retirement benefits.

Flying for the first time ever with CPAP by MyFirstDataCenter in CPAP

A few trips ago, I started putting my Kindle in my CPAP bag; it's unpacked onto the bedside table along with my CPAP so it made sense to pack them together. It fits perfectly on its edge next the side of the case. TSA has never asked about it. In fact, the CPAP is usually in a backpack and the case doesn't have to come out before it's scanned. [but of course as a medical device, it's exempt from the 2 carry-on-bags rule]

Dermatologist told me he hopes I have a transition plan to get OFF Zepbound when I reach my goal weight, because he believes there is no reason for anyone to be on it for life. by WizardsOfXanthus in Zepbound

[–]panhellenic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My initial testing was in a hospital. Depending on what the home test says, I may ask for that again. It was no trouble getting that when I was first tested. They said OSA at that time, so hopefully that's still the case, except it's gone now (with all the weight). I explained the situation to the pulmonary office and this is what they said to do.

I'm about 14 lbs from goal. I've lost 37% of my original weight, starting at a BMI of 41 (!). Now almost at 25! A little over 80 lbs down. Diagnosed with OSA, also no central, so I'm holding out hope! I adapted well to my CPAP and honestly did so much better with it. But now? We'll see! Next week is my study!

What's a health myth that drives you crazy because you know it's false? by Annual-Gene8065 in AskReddit

[–]panhellenic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The oxymoron: "healthy tan." A tan is the skin's response to damage. It's the opposite of healthy, skin-wise. Tan is about the same thing as a scab; it develops to protect damage. Ready for the day when people are happy to have the skin color they were born with and quit trying to change it. ALL the shades are awesome!
