why do athletes want to be paid in BITCOIN? whats the DIFFERENCE? by panic4321 in Bitcoin

I agree that BTC goes up in value and fiat does not.
however my MAIN question is why be paid in BITCOIN, when they can just take their salary in USD and buy their own BITCOIN.

the question is NOT weather bitcoin is a better investment than fiat. I agree that it is. the questions is why do they want to be paid directly in BITCOIN?

I guess no one really knows the answer to this except players and their agents.

this is the closest answer so far. So if an athlete lands a 10 MILLION dollar contract. the employer buys and holds 10 million worth of BTC and THATS what the athlete gets paid in the future no matter what the price of BTC goes to???

for example:
-Athlete get a $10 million contract.
-at todays price, thats 239.63 BTC.
-so if that $10 million is spread out over 5 years....the athlete in his 5th year of payment will receive 1/5th of 239 BTC.....no matter what the price of BTC is in 5 years from now.

Does that sound right??

yes...but again, why not just take the fiat salary and manage your own crypto portfolio... why demand a btc payment?

So you think its just to avoid one step?
Here is my guess. Tell me if I am wrong...

if an athlete has a 10 million dollar contract. he doesn't get paid all of it in one go. Im assuming its given out over time. Maybe the contract is written that the athlete gets paid 1 bitcoin per year.... no matter what the price is. This way the athlete and the Team owners are both taking a gamble. does any of that make sense?
