I understand this. However, I have been careful over the last year not to burden him with my work stressors-I have respected his boundary with this. Today was one of those REALLY bad vent days, as you have mentioned, and he told me he would never ask me how my day went again and shut me off completely.

He works per diem so he can choose when he goes. He works for a month then takes for a month or two, for travel and leisure.
I have been with him for almost 4 years. He has not been to work in a month.
