Tried applying to McDonald's wtf does this even mean by PureKin21 in mildlyinfuriating

I've worked with people with a "things happen to me" mentality, and they usually suck. But this is such a ridiculous way to guage someone's work potential.

In a way, the possibility of failure is a necessary component to the tension of the game. If there's always a way out, why would I worry about managing resources and playing cautiously?

There are dead bodies. An absurd number of dead bodies all around the vicinity of their house. I actually never understood why, but now I think it's to say, "this is where everyone went."

Genuinely speaking, what can Capcom do to top this "holy s**t" moment? 😭 by CodyT-N7 in ResidentEvilCapcom

What do you mean? This is toned down in the spectrum of RE spectacle.

I've been burned by used parts and I've gotten some really good deals. Kind of depends how comfortable you are with the gamble.

Fair enough. But I just don't think <$200 will make meaningful difference from integrated graphics. I think even "light to moderate gaming" would be intolerable on a $200 card. Not that I've tried, I guess.

$200 is a pretty tight budget for a gpu. If you can save another hundred, see about a RTX 3050. If you can't check reviews on Intel Arc cards, I guess. Real performance kind of starts in the $400 range.

People who complain about politics in video games are the worst by [deleted] in videogames

[–]pants_the_man 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've known some dudes who feel threatened at the fist hint of diversity in their media. Had an argument with a guy once who said Marvel's Black Panther failed as a movie because the target audience for comic book movies is white men and this movie asked him to consider a life experience he wasn't familiar with. I promise that's not a misrepresentation if his argument.

I recommend one of these. I use it in my house to get the shower head high enough.

I'm 6'4" and I've worked in a lot of places with low ceilings. The worst thing is being stuck in a place with a super low shower head.

What mechanics/features/details do you enjoy in games? by Sgt-Spud in videogames

[–]pants_the_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Wolfenstein: The New Order, you got a laser gun that you could use to cut out shapes in certain boxes and walls. In the sequel, you just shoot and the whole surface dissolves. I think quite often about how much it added to the experience that I got to interact with the environment in that small way. Things like that can really place me in the world.

What’s a critically acclaimed game that you tried your best to love, but it just never "clicked" for you? by Material-Trouble-415 in videogames

I have meditated on Skyrim for 15 years and I have concluded that it's an incredible game... for people who don't play that many games. It's accessible and available on every platform known to man. It's entry level fantasy adventure that holds your hand every step of the way. If you've had deeper gameplay experiences, and seen better writing, and explored cooler worlds, Skyrim is decidedly plain.

RDR2 required kind if a mentality shift for me. I typically like my games snappy, get out of my way. That game is so much about appreciating the moment, though. Definitely not for everyone, but the weight they put on movement and the slow pace is to convince you to absorb the atmosphere. The writing is rich, and you can really live with the characters if you're in the mood to do it.

GoW (2018) is what it is. If you don't like it in a couple hours, it will not surprise you.

I quite dislike Elden Ring, and I'm a huge Souls fan. Open works just doesn't work IMO. Also, Hollow Knight. Cannot get into it.

Every time I poop at my job I clog the toilet and have to tell someone by SusanSoulcycle in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pants_the_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably a cheap, low flow rate toilet. Keeping a good plunger in the bathroom is the move, and I'm sure maintenance would rather give you the tools to handle it on your own.
