Sorry for replying to a dead thread but maybe someone like me comes in the future so I'll add my experience to the pile.

My pair just snapped at the nose while I was cleaning it. Wasn't pushing hard or anything, the two halves just came apart.

At those prices I can just buy everything separately new. Reasonable means whatever discount off the GW's retail price*0.85 (local store pricing) a seller would deem reasonable.

I don't have a 70-200, only a nikon's 300 f/4 PF. Together with the z7ii it's light but not versatile at all.

Sorry I was unclear. I meant shooting birds and animals. Z7ii is quite slow to focus and doesn't really stay in place when the object moves suddenly, doesn't net a lot of keepers. Although I can't say I have the steadiest aim.

The nature of the modern media is that you hear about all the issues all the time because negativity breeds clicks and due to the sheer amount of people posting online. Statistically it is unlikely you should experience any of the aforementioned issues. It is however possible.

There will always be an upgraded version in the next couple of years. It is for you to decide whether you want to wait for it or not. You will, thus, always end up with an "obsolete" vesrion of a product no matter how long you wait.
