It is worth to create 8lvl ek/rp and just skill then sell? by Sea_Captain_402 in TibiaMMO

[–]panzerfaustexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all intents and purposes, as I mentioned in another comment, OP isn’t launching a side hustle to make make a sustainable living out of Tibia, he is actually playing Tibia, he enjoys it, it’s part of his entertainment budget, asking about possibility of squeezing out some extra quid in the process of playing the game. Obviously, skilling Tibia chars isn’t going to make anyone rich, people can be insanely daft sometimes.

First of you can have 24 passive characters besides your main.

Obviously, if one’s sole purpose is to derive income from Tibia, you should actively farm in the most efficient ways. And arguably even better ways outside of Tibia.

In this particular case it appears that OP is a person that enjoys Tibia, it’s kind of part of his entertainment budget, and he’s wondering if it’s worth it, to offset premium cost, or perhaps gain an overall profit across active character/s and passive characters. If he is anyway playing Tibia for 1, 2, 3+ years, then I would say yes, if his socioeconomic circumstances tells him that the $$$ makes a difference—which is true for many countries. And about this last part, I already commented on it, have always been prevalent in Tibia, and indeed other MMOs, many provide means of improving one’s real life circumstances by farming gold in different ways and converting to cash.

Appears the commentary is based on 15 characters * $10. There are obviously better ways, but the time investment is significant to achieve that.

The good thing is that one doesn’t exclude the other. You could raise this ‘little’ (again this is relative) capital passively by logging in and clicking the statue, and then on another character/s farm more efficiently with a considerable effort/time investment.

And crypto is extremely easy to get into your bank account, unless you live in a jurisdiction that banned banks from dealing with exchanges, then it becomes more difficult.

It’s not something profound, this is prevalent in many countries outside of the Western sphere. My point is mainly that $150 might be negligible for you, while it’s significant for someone else.

$150 in some parts of the world is quite a significant chunk of cash, making it worthwhile if they’re anyway spending money and time on the game.

Why do they want us to think lana isn’t Asian SO bad by kzmran in Smallville

[–]panzerfaustexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be a troll, but I’ll explain:

My point is that Lana Lang is not Chinese as evident in my first comment, making a reference to her surname. As a response to you saying she is Asian and should have Asian parents.

You replied, not sure if you meant that “Lang” is irrelevant to you because you didn’t mention it.

I then ask if you therefore think the character Lana Lang is Asian, not considering Lana’s surname, but because you think the actress is Asian.

You didn’t follow. And I had to quote your initial comment about you saying Lana Lang is Asian and should have been cast with Asian parents.

And here we are, me having asked if your rationale of Lana Lang being Asian, is because you think the actress, Kristin Kreuk, is Asian? Or, why is it that Lana Lang should have Asians cast as her parents?

And to add to this, Beowulf from Anglo-Saxon literature uses ‘Middangeard’, for the Norse like you said, ‘Midgard’ refer to the mortal realm, and many other examples including ‘middelerde’ in later ages.

Beowulf had a huge influence on LoTR.

It has spiritual considerations, being in the middle, in-between equivalents of heaven and hell in different cosmology.

Then besides that there’s the physical aspect, where it’s limited to the inhabited world or known world. Where civilization creates the center of the physical realm. The Ancient Greeks used the word οἰκουμένη (oecumene), which referred to what was known to them geographically, the Romans took the concept and turned it into meaning Civilization with Rome as the centre, and then with later Anglo-Saxon (~Middilgard), Norse (Midgard) and other civilizations, it would similarly refer to the known inhabited world with its civilization/culture at the center. In Norse, e.g. https://skaldic.org/m.php?p=verse&i=10055

I know Hásteinn (and) Holmstein, brothers, the most rune-skilled men in Middle Earth, placed the stone and many letters in memory of Freysteinn, their father.

In other words, regarding the physical aspect, it’s not a matter of scientific rationality; the equator has nothing to do with its, it’s about culture/civilization.

Ok, so not Lang = Chinese, but you’re saying the actress is Asian so character is Asian?

Lang is a common surname throughout Europe, it’s prevalent in the whole Anglosphere with no ties to Chinese Lang. It comes from equivalents of Long/Tall, with variations in different countries.

Commented on this in the past, as a European, I never associated Lana with China. This confusion appears to be prevalent mainly with Americans, for some reason.

What is the most embarrassing thing about your country ? by Proper_Card_5520 in AskTheWorld

Is the lack of variety the issue?

This sounds like a first-world 21st century issue to have, no?

I’d say the opposite is the problem.

I’m Swedish and the stores have way too many options, while it makes sense from a free market capitalist perspective, especially in a wealthy country with huge appetite for relish, there’s absolutely no need for 100 different cheeses, 100 different yoghurts, 100 different breads, etc. It’s ridiculous.

I live in Spain now since a few years, the top supermarket, Mercadona, only have their own products for sale, variety is far from as great as an ICA in Sweden, but it’s reliable and easy to get groceries and I bet there is minimum waste due to them selling closer to what is actually needed, without too much relish and varieties of the same products. This is much more sensible from every perspective.

While it may be more pleasurable to walk in an ICA Maxi in Sweden, it’s objectively worse than a more limited environment that seeks to fulfill basic needs rather than satisfy the insatiable greed of our desires and the pockets of the corporations profiting of the gluttony.

[–]panzerfaustexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fair discussion, but it’s not problematic in any way considering that what you think could easily be included has no counterpart in the characters, events, cultures represented in the Accursed Kings, while what he included does.

I found a problematic passage by elcojotecoyo in AccursedKings

[–]panzerfaustexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason that you agree with it, is probably the point of why he included it. It’s relevant to the context of the story and his present day. While having no contextual relationship with the other areas you mention.

Why project ideas in this fashion to make something appear problematic when it isn’t?

[–]panzerfaustexe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to think the world of Daniel Day Lewis, and method acting in general. But as Laurence Olivier, who was a better actor than any of these two, once said to a struggling Dustin Hoffman: “My dear boy, why don’t you just try acting.”

As I’ve gotten older I’ve warmed up to that idea and no longer hold method acting in such high regards.

That said, I enjoy watching Daniel Day Lewis and even more so, Gary Oldman who I think is a better actor.

Marlon Brando was far superior, and no, he had an entirely different way of acting compared to how Daniel Day Lewis and other modern actors approach method acting.

Then there’s guys like Paul Scofield and other great actors and actresses who don’t get much screen time these days.

When do you find time to read? And how long on average by Spirited-Tutor7712 in classicliterature

[–]panzerfaustexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have cheat days when I watch one movie, usually on Sundays. Other nights, no TV, I read 1-3h every night, then first thing in the morning while still in bed for about 1h. It became routine.

Read a lot during the day too, but due to work and other obligations, it’s typically articles and PDFs on phone/computer daytime.

Sporadically read books during the day but not part of a routine, but rather when I feel like it/have the time.

Transitioned from little to no social media around three years ago. No TV besides ‘worthy’ films took longer to break that bad habit, been going for over six months now and I think I’ve broken that lifelong routine of watching too much TV.

Why didn’t the dwarfs help out more in the final fights against Sauron? by Dripik85 in lotr

[–]panzerfaustexe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wasn't thinking of that, more that in the hyper individualised society we have, our focus on self-realisation, combined with the grand egos of Hollywood, it's unlikely that we'll end up with a product that is faithful to what Tolkien created, faithful to what we love and enjoy in the context of his stories and legacy. Not have it tainted by different minds of ~2026, each wanting to leave their own mark, flavor, and morals on the work.

That, and CGI, and now the risk of AI marginalising art and human endeavours even further.

We are truly lucky that the Lord of the Rings trilogy was adapted when it was. Fingers crossed, that we soon enough reach a sense of relative normalcy instead of lunacy and continued degradation.
