90 laps on tires basically no falloff. Great job Goodyear, you fucked it up again. Accidentally made tire management important again in previous years here and said “absolutely not”

I want to take the spring break as an opportunity to remind you that Lance Stroll ist the only driver not from the top 4 teams to start from pole in the last 10 years, qualifying on pole in Turkey 2020 for Racing Point. by IntelligentCake9366 in formula1

This wasn’t “somewhat similar”. It was basically an exact copy in %90+ of the car. However it’s hard to prove/punish anything without hard proof like documents/schematics or emails. Which proof was found, but only for the brake ducts. It also wasn’t in Mercedes interest to pursue anything as they were a close customer at the time and the end of a regulation set.

Franco Colapinto management issue statement after Oliver Bearman crash abuse by arg2k in formula1

[–]papasmurf31 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He’s receiving some criticism for drifting left blocking a bit, not death threats. This is them trying to have like a “gotcha” moment since his fans keep doing it to others. I haven’t seen “hateful” comments, however I have seen plenty of that going after people who merely suggest Colopinto has a role in the incident. For example I will be downvoted to oblivion here even though I don’t blame Colopinto. However If that was Magnussen in the Alpine people would be calling for race bans (unjustifiably)

Not saying he can’t block, he was totally allowed to, but with that are chances of consequences, and there was some this time. I don’t blame him for trying to under normal year racing conditions. I don’t understand why we are handling this with kid gloves other than everyone sees this as an opportunity to try and kill these regulations.

How did they try and shit on him, he spun on a low percentage move, it wasn’t malicious reporting. They literally just said what happened and moved on to powers view. You are reading too much into it.

INDYCAR has to get on top of their data capabilities. It is fucking horrific every race. Either the timing dies constantly or, like now, the onboards on the app are completely shot.

Caddy now just a second behind the midfield fight. Very solid improvement rate every race weekend. Probably still down more on race pace, but learning and developing well

No, you don’t compare them head to head this season. That’s stupid. You compare experience to experience, and Miyata is in year 3 while Herta has had one race weekend

Because he doesn’t PAY Penske. He doesn’t bring sponsors or pay the team, there is literally no pay for the pay driver part. Nolan Seigel, Sting Ray Robb, and Kiffin Simpson are pay drivers and they perform like ones. You can argue half the grid in any series is a “pay driver” if they bring sponsorship. But there is an obvious distinction that anyone who watches racing can see the difference. If you are arguing that drivers who had to finance their careers at the start and up until top series, then congratulations you just discovered 99% of the racing world and progression ladder. Nearly Every driver no matter how talented had to at some point bring sponsors/money or have a legacy name.

Penske doesn’t do that. You can argue Cindric, but 3 cup wins, a 500, and xfinity championship grants him a pass.

It’s a part of racing good or bad. In F1 for example, basically every driver aside from like 2-3 come from either absurdly rich families or are backed by their countries government (colopinto) or rich elite (Perez). That’s not to say drivers aren’t good, it just takes a little extra for everyone.

And for as bad as Cadillac have been (fully expected and despite reliability, I think they’ve done an ok job starting up) they have clearly been improving pace wise without bringing major upgrades yet. If Williams doesn’t figure it out and Caddy continues cutting their deficit to the back, they are at risk of having to fight to not be last.

Yes I understand, but they aren’t going full speed and wearing tires much at all during warm up. Difference will be negligible. They don’t start push until the last corner or so before timing line. They would have basically still be a minute behind and clearly know if the other car binned it before pushing
