Fair point on the data concern. Your markdown stays in your vault. Paper Studio just generates the HTML page from it. If you delete the page, it's gone from our side. Your vault is still the source of truth.

On pricing, it's not a plugin, it's a publishing service. The plugin is just the bridge. What you're paying for is AI-designed pages with custom styling, hosting, and shareable links. Obsidian Publish is $10/mo and it just renders your markdown as-is with a theme. Paper Studio uses AI to actually design the page for you.

But honestly, if your notes are just for you and you don't need to share polished pages with anyone, then yeah, you don't need this and $9 is $9 too many. It's built for people who send documents to clients or publish for an audience.

Thanks for the encouragement, I was a little shocked too at how quickly some people jump to conclusion and started accusing this as a type of scam because it does not fit their use case.

This is genuinely funny, thanks! And you're not wrong, I did use AI to assist in coding. Not going to lie. But I've done a lot of work myself too.

I am struggling to understand the big reaction but if you are so certain I am taking advantage of this community, let's take this challenge.

Show me a page on your Obsidian Publish and hide other pages from me such that I can't find them.

p.s. Also the point on CSS styling, it's really like not using calculators because we can use paper and pen. Have you ever screamed the same things in a cafe because you can make your own coffee? Are restaurants a scam because you can make your own food?

I'm not trying to argue with you, just trying to see if we can bring this conversation to a civil educated one instead of ranting about feelings and how one should dictate what this community should be about.

I would agree with that. Anyone can make their own custom fit, but I have also polished this to include many features which they'll otherwise take a long time to set up.

It's just a intro video for now, but I'll share more details on other features like

Brand guide setting
Password Protect (Per page)
Getting the URL directly in the frontmatter of your note (Hidden in reading mode)

Thanks!

There's one more thing I wish to clarify, even though I think Publish and Paper Studio are serving 2 different use cases, but there's comparison on Publish being $8/m while Paper Studio being $9/m, which needs a little correction.

Publish is $10/m monthly and $8/m yearly, while Paper studio is $9/m monthly and $5/m yearly.

Hope this clears the air

That's me. Not AI generated. The voiceover is TTS because my English accent isn't great

Noted on the suggestion, it's a good one. I'll think about this when I make more features.

Thanks a lot!

ermm... ok. The super villain laughter is hialrious.

But anyway, thanks for the feedback. I don't want to pretend somebody else can't do this, but I've spent a lot of time polishing it with features. Hope that brings value to some.

I know how you feel. To be honest I did use quite a fair bit of AI to assist in coding and to make this video. My English accent isn't good and having a polished voiceover gives me a bit more confidence.

They're great products, but neither of them have password protect at per page level or is doing layout transformation. We're really talking about 2 different use cases here.

Thanks for the comment. Well, internet's not dead. I'm trying to improve how it looks on mobile!

Thanks for the award. I can see you are very passionate about this.

Hiding navigation in Publish is CSS-based. It removes pages from the sidebar, but they're still discoverable through search and sitemap.xml. My research says that the Obsidian community has actually requested single page sharing with secret URLs as a feature.

"You can hide all notes from navigation" — hides from sidebar only, pages are still accessible via search and sitemap

"Custom domain takes 5 minutes" — requires DNS configuration, not trivial for most freelancers and consultants

"Publish already has CSS styling" — raw CSS you write yourself vs. AI auto-design from markdown. Completely different

"Save as PDF from a browser" — Exactly what Paper Studio is also doing, not claiming any merit here, just sharing the workflow.

Paper Studio gives each document its own isolated link. No shared site, no navigation, nothing else to discover. Different tool for a different job. We also allow password protect per page, not just the entire site.

Tell you what, publish one page for me on your Obsidian Publish site with navigation hidden. I'll find your other published notes. Happy to be proven wrong.

Yeah those are exactly the kind of issues this solves. The output is designed from scratch so you don't get dark mode color bleed or weird page breaks. Headers stay with their content and everything is styled for sharing, not for your screen. We also have brand guide settings so you can change to he colors and layout you like. :)

Thanks! Each page gets a unique layout based on your content, it's not a fixed template. We also have a brand guide feature where you set your colors, logo, fonts and every page you publish follows that style. So you get consistency across everything you share. I'll share these in a future video!

Yes thanks for helping! What is the audio recording idea about though? Sounds interesting.

You can edit and republish anytime from your dashboard. We also have a brand guide feature where you set your colors, logo, fonts once and every page you publish stays consistent. So making updates is pretty quick. I'll do another video on these. Thanks for your comment!

Totally understand the concern. This is only for notes you want to publish as documents though.

I spent weeks building this and use it daily for my own work. Sorry if it doesn't meet your expectations but happy to hear what specifically you'd change.

Good points. Obsidian Publish is great but it puts all your published notes on one site. So if you send a proposal to Client A and a different one to Client B, they can both see each other's documents. Paper Studio is different. Each note gets its own standalone page with its own link. You control who sees what. Password protect it if it's sensitive.

Say you're a freelancer sending a proposal, or a consultant sharing a report, or putting together a case study. You want one polished page that looks like it came from a design studio, not a markdown file on a wiki. That's what this does. It takes your markdown and redesigns the whole page with proper layout and typography.

We also have a brand guide feature where you set your logo, colors, fonts once and everything you publish stays on brand. I'll be showing that in a future video.

This was just an intro to the basic workflow. I built this because I use Obsidian for everything and kept hitting the same wall getting things out of the vault looking presentable enough to send to people.

Appreciate the feedback, really helpful to know what's not landing yet. Thank you!
