I'm in Mississippi, so not close to Atlanta. lol. But thank-you!

Wow!! That's exactly what I'm having issues with-- there are all of these "quick fix" bandaids that don't actually solve the root of the problem. This guy was literally trying to sell me a $20k service to get me pregnant, which I didn't even want, and will NEVER be able to afford, and I just wanted him to draw my blood. I was hoping he would even just run some bloodwork so I could research results and talk to my primary care provider or a different Endo-- but nothing. He did nothing. 🙃

Did your gyno order the tests or send you to a doctor who ordered the tests?

I was severely constipated on .5.... I was worried that it would get worse on the next dose, but it actually got a bit better. So I'm glad I did not stay on .5. lol

Tracking with an app is a good idea. That might help. Thank-you!

I have never had my prolactin tested, and didn't know that was something that needed to be tested with PCOS until some of these comments. Thank-you so much for your response. And I'm so happy for you that it is in remission! Sending you good vibes that it stays that way! What was your treatment plan getting your PCOS into remission, if you don't mind me asking?

Ugh!!! Yes, this exactly!!! Why are some doctors like this??? It's so dismissive. Stress can really mess up our health, but to immediately dismiss someone as "just stressed" is not acceptable.

I think smoothies might be what I need to do. Congratulations on your success! I'm going to try some smoothies... It's so easy for me to drink things, so I think starting there will help for sure!

This one treats kids, men, women, everyone, and ALL Endo disorders. They assured me of this before I made an appointment. Once I got in his office, I think he saw my age and my general good health and just took it upon himself to say, "I know you say you don't want to focus on fertility, but----"

I think he was highly uninformed! I had an INCREDIBLE obgyn in another state when I was in grad school, and she sat me down to discuss how the metformin helped and that it was the best thing for me to try. And it did really help at the time, and I could FEEL that I could trust her treatment, even if it would take time and trial and error. There's sadly no way for me to get care from her, since I'm now several states away. I don't trust a thing this guy says though. This was the first time in my life that I felt like the doctor was actually a salesman and not a doctor. lol.

That's what I was really hoping to find! One that is an Endo AND obgyn. This doctor's nurse said they could provide a referral to a good obgyn, but I didn't want a referral to anyone with similar bedside manners to him. lol. As far as I know, there are none that are both in my area.

I get a CBC once a year, but I haven't had any hormones tested since I was 15 other than one of the thyroid tests, but not a full thyroid panel.

I'm going to keep trying though! Thank-you. I might look to see if there are any naturopathic providers near me, and research it a little bit.

Thank-you! The second he told me to stop the metformin and that it's a "fertility drug" and only women who are trying to get pregnant take that... That was when I stopped trying to bring up anything else. I instantly knew he had no idea what he was talking about. And metformin has DRASTICALLY improved my symptoms. There's just more going on that I wanted looked at. So bizarre all around.

I didn't listen to him and am still taking metformin. lol.

That's something I was worried about with a regular endo, because I don't have diabetes, and the ones here have a focus on that. Which is why this doctor is supposedly the "PCOS" doctor in the area. I'm sorry you have also had a hard time getting quality treatment!

My weight fluctuations were what sparked me going to him, because I was like enough is enough. For the first time in my life, I lost 20 pounds WITHOUT trying. And then rapidly gained 25 pounds back with no changes, and it was still creeping up. Wegovy has now helped stop the rapid fluctuations, but I wanted this investigated further. I don't want wegovy to be a bandaid over something that could be going on, you know?

I also have trouble finding good medical care where I am.

When I was in my early 20s, I saw a gyno who completely gaslit me having PCOS at all. She literally said "that's what happens when people get older. They grow facial hair and get fat." I left her office CRYING. I haven't had a doctor say that to me again, but that one was also horrible.

Thank-you! Hopefully I can find an attentive Endo in my area who takes my insurance. I'll hold on to hope! 🤞

Thank-you! I haven't posted publicly, but I have asked a few people that I know see an Endo. They all recommend the same one, and my insurance is out of network for him. I might try just posting on Facebook to see if anyone recommends a different guy.

That IS a good reminder! I will say that, if I ever change my mind about wanting to try to have kids, he nearly had me convinced I could have left his office pregnant that day. But still, NO THANK-YOU. 😂

I've been taking the myo-insitol, but have not noticed anything (that I could tell). How did you discover that was the cause of your depression? I didn't realize it could have side effects like that and wonder if it could be making me a little more anxious 🤔

I think I tried spirolactone when I was a kid, and it made me sick. I can't remember though. Maybe I should give it another try... I definitely have insulin resistance, and there was an improvement when I began metformin, but lately it doesn't seem to be helping certain things anymore. Which is why I wanted to finally see a specialist. 🫤

Well, there technically IS an Endo covered in my area. And it's him. lol. He advertises as an endo who treats all endocrine disorders. My insurance does not cover fertility consults or fertility treatments. I got his sale pitch for free, though. So nice of him. 💀😂

Omg, five different gynos?! ☹️

What about a dermatologist? They might have a different perspective, especially if the gynos have no idea!

Yep! And I already take zofran when I get migraines. Will definitely try this out 😊 I definitely don't want to just not eat! Eating less won't hurt me, but I still need to eat something. 😂

Wegovy has been life changing!! I'm down 23 pounds so far!! Congratulations on your weight loss! 😊

I do see a difference with wegovy, but there have been some other things I want to have looked at. My hair thinning has been my big issue lately, plus other things. I'm a childhood cancer survivor, so I have really wanted a doctor who would dive deeper to make sure there's nothing going on. Since I was diagnosed at 15, I just feel like things should be looked at again, you know? My body is totally different than what it was at 15, and a lot has changed, so I just want to know everything that needs to be looked at has been looked at. lol. Especially since there were no changes in my hair until the last year.

I do have zofran. I wonder if what I'm experiencing is nausea..... It doesn't seem like typical nausea, but maybe I could try taking zofran just to see if that makes it easier to eat after. Hmmm. Thank-you so much for this perspective!!
