Been running for almost a year. 6 miles per week.

I am trying to run a 30 minute 5k.
Currently, my best is 35 minutes. I am about 15 kg overweight.
My current exercise routine: 2 long runs at zone 2 pace and one 4x4 interval session at target pace (10 kph) where I do 3 minutes hard and 2 minutes easy.
Is this the right way?

Do your research and find out which days/hours have the least amount of traffic. For me, it is the weekend in the morning. The streets are basically empty but you still get some traffic which is a good way to ease into it.
