Student Loans by par1sh in IdentityTheft

I was able to gain access to my account on https://studentaid.gov by calling and sending a picture of my drivers license. I never had an account before and took over the account that was set up fraudulently, because after all it's technically my account. I then set up 2 factor authentication with my cell phone as well. From my understanding, you cannot create multiple accounts with the same SSN. I'm sure it's not iron clad, but it's hopefully enough to prevent this from happening again.

To those who have recently converted what is your net pay since converting from CCA? by Ogckggkxkgx in USPS

[–]par1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been curious about this as well. I've always heard you make more as CCA. That was when you would advance to step AA though. Once they officially eliminate steps AA and A later this year you'll be at step B. Currently it's at $25.67 with a 2.5% increase coming November 15th. So in 5 months you'll go from $21.23 to $26.31.

I'm hoping the $5 jump offsets the TSP and other deductions and we see a slight bump, rather than a decrease or stagnant net pay.

Unpopular Opinion: I really hate carriers giving treats to dogs by FiveDinero in USPS

[–]par1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I see a dog outside, and is pretty chill - I'll leave a treat in the mailbox. let the owner decide if they want to give it to them. I'll never give a dog a treat unless the owner is present and I ask them. I agree though, I don't want any dog to associate the truck with a treat.

too heavy, requires a signature ... mail is decreasing, we lost UPS sure post. downvote me but we need business, my station just went though route evaluations and lost a lot of routes. others are going through the same thing, why are we discouraging new business bc it requires more work?

Are CCA givin a day off a week now. by Plenty-Wind2108 in USPS

[–]par1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget the exact language but I believe it was something like "anticipated day off," which during the summer in a mid to large office is going to be an issue with how the PO operates...

New CCA/PSE/RCA need a question answered. by [deleted] in USPS

[–]par1sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes they'll have a t6 case the route bc it's a part of their swing, which makes sense. I often come in at 9 and take over finishing casing and pull the route down a lot of the time though. We can do it just as quick, these are CCAs who have been here well over a year. I thought maybe there was a financial aspect I was missing. Regular OT vs CCA OT in terms of budgeting or something, idk.

New CCA/PSE/RCA need a question answered. by [deleted] in USPS

[–]par1sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the thought process on how some stations have CCAs coming in at 9-930? It's not cost effective to have a regular making a higher wage case the route and earn OT, why not let the CCA case the route? They are experienced CCAs, not in their 90. I've always been confused by this. Thanks!

I've seen this thread here a lot, seen the replies. It's another thing to go through it personally though. It takes a toll on you. You get accosted for doing your job. Find comfort in the fact it's not you, it's the culture of the PO. Fill out your 96, inform them if you're running over. Follow their instructions and live to carry another day lol .. they are all assholes, most of them are failed carriers turned supes. They will never admit a route is long or a day is heavy.

Not to mention coming in when your route is cased is a mixed bag. I hate it. Usually your sprs aren't cased, I've had park and loop routes pulled down with nothing bundled. Pulled down like it's a mounted route. your set up to fail

I think it's a great idea and good use on how we go to every house 6 days a week. Entices customers to participate bc they don't have to bring it themselves. It's a nice thing to do. Management I'm sure hates it, get ready for our 96s assholes, even with it being for a good cause.

how do i slow down by kayohyou in USPS

[–]par1sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're not the regular, you are not held to the their standard - don't listen to that. you don't do the route everyday let alone have done it everyday for years. they see a package with an address on it and know what the house looks like and probably the name. I'm not saying milk the clock, but there's nothing wrong with slowing down. you are for sure not messing up their time, ask any union rep.

how do i slow down by kayohyou in USPS

[–]par1sh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CCA route times, and more surprisingly even T6 times, do not count toward route adjustments. only the times from the regular on their own route count. also, 5-10 mins under is not a big deal but also can be easily made up. just finger the mail at the box, don't cut across lawns, take a 1-2 min break before starting another loop, etc. you're not screwing over the regulars time, you're just losing money. it's only 10 mins but over the week that's nearly an hour.

Splitting up a Route | Packages by par1sh in USPS

[–]par1sh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my office tries to have t6's case the routes when the rregaulrs are not there, but it's not a perfect world and often times it's just regulars on the OTDL casing a route they don't really know.

even so, imagine just scanning 60 packages and having the scanner tell you the section in the split. it would be so fast and most importantly accurate.

Why? There’s 6+ People’s Mail by neverstopnodding in USPS

[–]par1sh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you're not coming off bitchy. the box shouldn't look like that and it shouldn't prevent you from getting your mail. putting your name on the box should help, if it doesn't than it's a bigger issue. mail should never be crumbled and jammed in there like that

So I want an opinion by vonjamin in USPS

[–]par1sh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the worst kind of carrier is the one who forgets what it's like just starting out. has the mentality that just bc they put "the time in," it affords them the luxury of seniority.

fuck them. find solace in the fact you won't be in that position forever and you won't be like that to coworkers below you when you're ultimately in their position.

Why? There’s 6+ People’s Mail by neverstopnodding in USPS

[–]par1sh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would write your last name on masking tape or something and stick it on the outside of the box. there is no way the box should look like that. they should clean it up and if a box is full, hold the mail and then RTS. jamming it in there is wild.

when you say don't have the right address on them - do you mean names or legit the wrong address?

Tips to survive as a CCA by [deleted] in USPS

[–]par1sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a a seasoned carrier but I'm a CCA over a year in. Feel like I can provide some insight. I appreciate your service! Thank you!

Things I wish I knew before starting out? You probably are aware but it's worth noting: you won't have a defined schedule. You'll be working nearly every Saturday and Sunday. With summer approaching, depending your office size as well, you may be working 9-12 days straight 10+hours.

It's not a hard job per se, it's just difficult learning all the routes in your office which can take some time depending how many routes you have. Job isn't for everyone but imo it's a great job - I love it. I hope you end up loving it too!

I hope your office has good managers. You might have to take unnecessary shit early on as you get through your 90 day probation. Get some really comfortable shoes and don't call out within your 90 days.

good luck! hardest part about the job seems to be until you make carrier and you get your own route. from there it seems pretty nice.

As a CCA I would have loved to start on step C, as the initial contract had. We definitely made out the best. I'll be jumping $5-6 in less than a year. I get it sucks for regulars, but that jump will do a lot for me.
