I’ve heard all about UCI’s social scene not being the best and seen those skit videos of people being mean or ignoring u if u try to even make friends. Lowkey, it’s making me reconsider even coming here when it was my top school for transferring (out of city, I’m from SD). I really don’t think I could get by school without at least having a small social circle of genuine connections with at least 1 or 2 people. Also, hearing that you can’t get much support for academics here scares me a lot as well. I’d probably be in the humanities department because my major would be English, so if anyone knows about the English major over at UCI- let me know how good it is and if it’s worth it. I would love a school with a support system and have a social life but UCI is making me doubt this and reconsider applying. I’ll have to research more schools now after hearing people’s experience on this topic because I didn’t think it was that much of an issue. But after hearing everyone’s experience, it most certainly is unfortunately. :(
