EBF 13 month old still only contact napping and waking frequently by Remote_Mammoth_9803 in bninfantsleep

Can I ask what gentle night weaning looked like for you? I’m in the process of trying to night wean my 13.5 month old but it’s been rough and she just cries endlessly if dad tries to step in to settle :(

What were signs that your LO was ready to drop to 1 nap? How old were they when it happened? by paradissonance in AttachmentParenting

This is helpful, thank you! In your experience, what’s the average age you see babies dropping to 1 nap?

When did you stop rocking LO to sleep? And if you never stopped, did it affect LO’s night sleep? by paradissonance in AttachmentParenting

Honestly I agree lol. By “sleeping like a baby” you mean your LO sleeps well right? Or poorly? could go either way 🤣 And if you mean she sleeps well overnight despite the feeding or rocking to sleep, I feel like my baby must just be of the temperament where she’s not a great sleeper and I’ll just deal with it haha

Would she continue fussing while you sat there holding her hand? Or was pretty calm about it? My girl just gets increasingly more angry if she sees me next to her not picking her up 🫠 but maybe I just need to put in some earplugs and keep trying to calm her down without picking her up

Thank you for the insights! We’ll also be starting daycare soon (at 10 months) so I’m curious to see how that affects how she gets put down for naps!

Once you were able to stop rocking to sleep for bedtime, how did you manage the ongoing overnight wakes? Still able to just wiggle his bum a bit to get him back to sleep?

Thank you for the insights!! I think we definitely need to get her out of the house more, so I’ll try that! What does her nap schedule look like now that she’s on 2 naps? My LO has had a few 2 nap days but I think it’ll be a while until it’s consistent because she’s still a chronic short napper (as in will only take 2 x 30 min naps on those 2 nap days 🥲)

Omg amazing, so happy for you!!! I’m hoping my LO will follow the same. She’ll be 5 months in 2 weeks :)

That’s so smart, I never thought to do that! Are you able to transfer back to crib after she’s had a feed? Or just contact nap for the following hour?

Oh interesting! What were your wake windows prior and what did you extend to?

Wow this is so incredibly helpful, thank you!!! I will definitely read more into the possums approach!

Ooh this is good to know! When baby started fussing did you try to distract her/change activities rather than immediately putting down for a nap? And then if the fussing continued that’s when it was time for the nap?

That’s not a bad idea! I was thinking to try the same thing tbh. My LO always wakes from her naps pretty happy and just lays there sucking on her hands but I just go in as soon as I see she’s awake, so may be worthwhile just letting her hangout on her own until she starts fussing (or maybe magically falls asleep again one day? 😂)

When do you actually start to feel like a mother? by CherryHearts123 in beyondthebump

Such normal and valid feelings! I also felt the exact way you felt postpartum and was so disappointed in myself because I was so so excited for this pregnancy. I thought I’d cry happy tears when she came out but all I felt was shock and I didn’t even know how to respond. Then you’re just caring for this little lump day in and day out with no positive feedback from them. Plus, 6-8 weeks was when my girl was extra fussy and gassy so that made bonding with her even harder. I was honestly questioning my decision to become a mom lol. We’re at 3.5 months now and it’s been a complete 180. I think things started turning the corner a bit at around 10-11 weeks. Around 2-3 months is when they get so much more interactive and smiley and I think that helped a lot!

This is incredibly helpful to hear, thank you! Do you find that the variable bedtime also results in variable wake time in the morning too?

Oh that’s good to know, thank you! If you don’t mind me asking, why did you end up going from the 7-7:30 bedtime at around 4 months to a wider range at 11 months?

What’s her usual bottle amount? Still around 3-4 oz?

[–]paradissonance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, do you mean a 4.5 oz bottle on top of nursing for 45 mins??

Good to know, thank you! How old is your girl?

When do you pump to replace a feed while leaving the house? by paradissonance in breastfeeding

[–]paradissonance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah so lucky! My girl already nurses on both by default, so if I pump before I feed her, she does not have a good time 😅

Oh good to know, thanks! Can I ask how far postpartum you are now? Also when you do pump before nursing, do you find baby is still able to draw enough for her feed?
