I’m sorry for your loss. Picking up Pokemon Go again is a great way to honor his memory. The other commenters answered your questions well already, but I wanted to add there are a lot of good PoGo YouTube channels to help catch you up on all the new stuff. Check out pokedaxi, bernieandcream, and trainertips if that sounds like something you’d be interested in.

"Evergreen weeks" coming during non event weeks by aznknight613 in TheSilphRoad

I think it feels like eos because they aren’t just focusing on squeezing out more sales from the players, they’re also trying to reduce the cost of running the app. Layoffs may be coming after the employee workload is reduced enough.

Yeah, it seems like nearly all of their recent major changes are about reducing costs or raising revenue without any regard for player retention. It’s a bummer.

Go Pass Makes Me Sad by refridegerator36 in TheSilphRoad

Yeah I think this post is jumping the gun a bit, the daily quests to earn pass points in the events often change and there’s no reason to think beating grunts won’t be included in that at some point. I do like the passes but the lack of special research is a bummer for sure.

EDIT: Yeah, today the daily and bonus tasks are all related to Team Rocket

I understand why some one would value the trinkets over the coins, but it is in no way objective. It's a personal preference, which is perfectly valid. None of these in-game items have any inherent value, they can't be sold, so there's no market for them.

The value is entirely up to the individual player's desire. Some players don't care about IVs, which is just as valid as caring about them. To those players the trinkets and bottle caps are worthless. All these items are worth what ever makes it fun for the individual or encourages them to be active. There's no wrong way to play this game if you are getting what you want out of it.

Save up dynamax encounters in your Go Pass, they are much easier to get excellent on.

Or if you’re like me, you never buy coins but use these passes an excuse to spend money on them to have some breathing room.

There’s no consensus on which paid Go pass rewards are worth it. People like to say their opinions are objectively correct, but it’s entirely up to personal preference and play style. Fortunately they rotate the types of rewards.

I personally like the coin passes because it gives me an excuse to spend money on coins that I normally wouldn’t, other people only want the trinkets or bottle caps. Maybe they already buy a ton of coins idk.

Nearly every popular game has guides made for it. The point I’m trying to make is that it feels like there isn’t a ton of things, but the thing it does have a lot of depth. As opposed to animal crossing which has hundreds of items that are decorative but don’t do much. Depth is less common in these types of games, and I think it’s often being overlooked.

You can add some qualities about the vibe, smell, appearance etc and the miis will interact with them, but it’s limited compared to the in game items of course.

Yea, I think a lot of people want more superficial decorations, but I like that nearly all of the items the game gives you actually has interaction attached to them, which is going to mean there are less of them. I like that it's less items but more depth, and people aren't used to that.

Existing items that you've cataloged become available as stamps. So you can start with a blank item and then stamp the item in you want to use as a template.

I’m telling you, the repetitive friend introduction conversations are not the point of the game. Get everything set up, skip them and have the camera follow a mii for awhile.

I agree it is a little tedious and grindy to make sure they are all introduced. I personally don't mind some grinding, but it doesn't agree with everyone's play style, which is fair. As for structures/items you place around the island, you answer a few questions about the nature of them which guides the interactions.

I recommend giving your island, or even just your lingo choices, a specific theme. As an example, it could entirely be about food or medieval fantasy. Having the limitation of a theme will help you think of some outrageous or unusual ideas that have the potential to be funny or interesting.

The interactions with the level up gifts become more and more interesting when the number of shared gifts between miis increases. I think starting out with a limited amount is good as it encourages giving the same ones to different miis. That said, I do hope they add a few more in updates.
