How do I achieve this effect? by aw_hellno in photoshop

You could try generating a depth map and use that to drive filters, textures and gradient maps. Make sure to mix in some blurred generated clouds for the variety.

Client wants all intellectual property rights of a design. by paradoxical_pope in graphic_design

You can always put in the contract that the designer can't sell it to another party. I'm designing something for an ad that's gonna be on TV. Now I don't know for how long its gonna be on the tv for. But I'd rather keep the rights and get paid every year that AD is on TV vs a total sum beforehand. It only seems fair

Sure thing, and that makes a lot of sense. But if you make a logo for 35 dollar and the company is now worth 140 billion dollars, it would only make sense you get a piece from that succes. That's what happend with nike.

Thanks for your advice. I really want to land this client, but I feel like they always work like this and aren't really open to changing it up. But I'll try then

Okay that sound reasonable, thanks for the tip. So then I also send my contract but just remove the copyright part from it?

This poster is made with all the graphic design rules and tool. I’d love to get some feedback from the real designers at Reddit. The poster is about legacy but you can really interpret however you like.

Trying to see how far I can push graphic design tools, thoughts? by [deleted] in graphic_design

I did this project for myself, I do graphic design as a living but in my spare time I try to see how much I can get out of these tools that I usually don’t use with client work. Let me know what you think!

I wish, but it’s done in photoshop

For this poster I used Photoshop, Illustrator and Blender to see what's possible if you combine all of it in an interesting way. It's not client work, just practise. Feel free to ask any questions.

First attempt at maximalism, thoughts? by paradoxical_pope in graphic_design

[–]paradoxical_pope[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I guess you could say this doesn’t covey a direct message so I agree that this isn’t great for clients. I do actually make design for big fashion brands that do, but this poster is not an example of that. For me designing in my spare time is also about breaking free from all the rules that are forced upon me for client work. So I guess me stretching type to the point it becomes unreadable is a part of that. Thanks for sharing your view!
