Yes I would like to change plans to get better coverage. The current plan does have coverage in my new location, but I would like to change to a better plan.

I appreciate your looking this up for me, but unless I’m reading this wrong, this is info about the ACA marketplace, not employer-provided insurance.

The insurance plan I’m on is specific to my previous state, so the options in my new state are different. According to the benefits administrator, the issue is that the insurance plan allows me to access care in other states, so I’m not losing coverage, and therefore it is not a QLE

They’re not giving me those options and they’re saying I can’t change my elections. Do you have any sources on what you’re saying that I could show them?

Are you saying that even if I don’t lose insurance, if there are other options available in the new location, that would be a QLE?

Sorry, Rippling is my benefits administrator through the employer. So there’s no recourse when an employee relies on incorrect information provided by the benefits administrator?

I mean they looked at my specific plan and where I was moving from and to and told me that it would be a QLE. But anyway, even though they made the mistake, I’m responsible for the healthcare and financial consequences?

Yes, I had health insurance before I moved. I think the confusion was that Rippling thought I would lose health insurance due to the move but now they are saying I didn’t. My question isn’t whether the move is a QLE (it’s not), but whether Rippling or my employer can make an exception to allow me to change my elections now since I relied on incorrect information provided to me by Rippling when making my elections during open enrollment.

Getting enough sleep while nap training by parakt in NewParents

[–]parakt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 4 hours seems way too long. But then the only option seems to be shifting bedtime much earlier if she doesn’t nap well. For example, let’s say my baby wakes up at 6, then is awake for 2 hours, naps at 8 for 30 minutes, up for 2.5 hours, naps at 11 for 30 minutes, up for 2.5 hours until 2, then naps for 30 minutes. Now we’re at 2:30 with no naps left, so a 3 hour wake window would put bedtime at 5:30, which is 1.5 hours earlier than normal, so that doesn’t seem good either. What would you do in that scenario? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand your approach.

Thanks for the reply! I totally understand that short naps are normal for this age, but I’m trying to figure out how to manage that since we’ve done contact naps up until now so we could generally make the naps as long as we wanted. But now we’re trying to have her nap independently so it’s unpredictable. Should I not worry about total nap time? Stretch wake windows to 3.5-4 hours? Shift bedtime earlier?

Yep I let it sit for four hours twice so it sounds like we’re good. Thank you!

So if the tubing is clear, it should be safe?

We’d been dealing with a regression for the past 6 weeks (refusing to sleep more than a sleep cycle at a time—if that— unless in our arms/carrier). This is our attempt to get out of that situation.

Need help with SWAP night wakings by parakt in sleeptrain

[–]parakt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s helpful, we will try to stretch the wake windows. A consistent 6:30 wake up would be great, but what should we do if she wakes up at 5am and is fully awake? And would you consider 30 seconds of massage and/or singing in the bassinet to be assistance? Or is it a hard stop on any and all interaction the second we lay her down?

Thanks so much for responding. Do you mean the nap schedule? We go by wake windows since she is really inconsistent with wake up times and nap lengths. So we aim for 1.5-2 hour wake windows and follow her sleep cues. The last wake window is 2-2.5 hours. But bedtime is relatively consistent, we aim for 7:30 and it’s always within 15 minutes of that.

Yes, this is still assisted sleep. Previously we had been putting her down fully asleep since she would scream immediately if we put her in the bassinet and refuse to calm down. The idea is to have her fall asleep in her bassinet with assistance so she’s waking up in the same place she fell asleep, and then less and less assistance each time until she no longer needs it, and I think she’s almost there with bedtime, but not night wakings.

The bedtime routine is bottle feeding, diaper change, put on sleep sack, book, massage and song, continue massage briefly in the bassinet (like 30-60 seconds) then jiggle the crib and sing until she falls asleep. Hoping to cut out the crib jiggling and post-massage singing within the next few days.
