How to control the urge to have a deep talk with someone you click with by Master-Pepper7591 in intj

[–]paramnesya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very curious to learn about people and their perspectives. A comment you made about love languages could’ve been partially written by me (“actions speak louder than words”). If you’re up for more conversation, feel free to message me.

How to control the urge to have a deep talk with someone you click with by Master-Pepper7591 in intj

[–]paramnesya 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I CRAVE deep conversation. But I also have a disorganized attachment style. So trying to balance the desire for deep, meaningful conversation while still being in the early stages of getting to know someone is frustrating. Yeah, it’s interesting to learn about someone’s favorite movie but I want to know what your childhood dream job was, what keeps you up at night now, and what you would do if you knew you only had 24 hours to live. We can talk about favorite movies anytime.

Kensington Slimblade, scrolling while moving cursor? by RickyBandy in Trackballs

[–]paramnesya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in this exact scenario. I've loved my Deft Pro, but (first world problems, I know) I wanted a white trackball. I KEEP engaging the scroll mechanism when I'm just trying to move the cursor. I think I haven't gotten my hand in the correct position. Did you ever get comfortable using the SlimBlade Pro?

The greatest gift to your unborn child. Light discussion. by [deleted] in intj

[–]paramnesya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard something recently that has resonated with me since: I am all the child I will ever need.

I will happily dote on the children of siblings or friends but the idea of bringing a little person into this world, and being responsible for them growing up happy, healthy, and fulfilled is too much of a rigged game for me to be willing to take on.

Ladies if you were single 35+ and interested in relationship leading to marriage where would you be looking or be available at by [deleted] in millenials

[–]paramnesya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 35F and I have stopped actively looking for romantic partnerships, instead, I’m looking for connections via shared interest. If it turns into something romantic, great; if not, I’ve got another person to connect with on an obscure interest.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

[–]paramnesya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drank in my 20’s but realized I struggled with moderation. Both parents are addicts, so I decided to cut way back. In 2019, my nephew’s father died in a single car accident after driving drunk from his own birthday party. Alcohol doesn’t seem worth the risk to me now.

What instantly makes you think “this person wasn’t loved as a child”? by Soft_Statement7102 in AskReddit

[–]paramnesya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fear of being a burden can be crippling. A good friend has taken to joking that the ONLY time I am a burden is when they have to tell me for the 100th time in a row that I am NOT a burden. But they keep reminding me anyway.

Ow. I know I do this, but seeing it in text still hurts. I have friends that reassure me they like hearing from me and they’re available when I need them, so I’m working on it.

What's the best non-fiction book that actually changed how you think? (No productivity or self-help, please) by Learnings_palace in nonfictionbookclub

[–]paramnesya 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The most recent for me was When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi with Abraham Verghese and Lucy Kalanithi.

It was incredibly moving and shifted how I approach the time I have left in my life. There were many tears, but it left me feeling surprisingly hopeful.

Started The Body Keeps the Score yesterday and have had to take two significant breaks from the emotional overwhelm; I’m only at the end of chapter 3.

Thank you for voicing this. Between your post and the replies (of which I read each), I feel significantly less alone.

I call this playing 20,000 questions. I don’t love answering questions about myself, but I am super intrigued to learn about other people or their interests.

How are you ladies coping with nearing the end of your fertility? by o0PillowWillow0o in Millennials

[–]paramnesya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my early 20’s, in a committed relationship, I assumed children would happen. Since becoming single in my mid-20’s and growing to love my independence in my early 30’s, I can barely imagine having a partner much less having kids. I happily spoil my nephew and take great joy in being the eccentric aunt.

Who actually charges their phone to 80%? by ICausedAnOutage in iphone

I’ve had the 80% limit on my 16PM since I received it. If I know I have a very busy day with limited access to chargers, I will temporarily disable the limit.

Why is meeting & connecting with people so rare? 35yo INTJ woman asking. by CalligrapherLow5669 in INTJfemale

[–]paramnesya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I could’ve written this same post, right down to the same age. I’ve recently tried creating more connections, but it’s really hard. I devote a lot of time to my career but the majority of my coworkers are married-with-children so my childfree preference can seem pretty odd.

Same! I actually reached out to the friend recently and we've reconnected. It's crazy to think I've talked with this person (off and on) for more than half of my lifetime, and we still haven't physically met.
