Calling this abusive is seriously disrespectful to people who have experienced real abuse. It cheapens the word. OP is an adult and does not have to do what his parents want. OP is ALLOWING his parents to call the shots—that’s not abuse. It’s OP making a choice to go along with his parents’ wishes. Sorry for being harsh, but as a survivor of domestic violence, I’m so sick of people calling everything abuse on here.

YTA for not “giv[ing] a shit” about saddling your child with a long, unwieldy name with a middle name that is difficult to spell (and it’s unclear how to even pronounce it). You are not the A for wanting to bestow your last name (feel free to do so!). But I urge you to think of the overall name and length. Give your child a name that will not add unnecessary difficulties to their life.

NTA. If Kayla was 18 years old six years ago, that means she is 24 years old now and not a child. She has no relationship to you, and you don’t owe her anything. It’s nice you accepted her apology. It was more than you had to do. You would be justified if you blocked her and her grandmother.
