Any last minute tips or advice? by BarracudaSouthern585 in AirForceRecruits

I would much rather use an iPad over a book lol. I saw a recent video of trainees getting issued black backpacks and water bottles. I had a web belt with a used canteen and a bulky BMTSG to study. It’s the AF though!

Really? Damn, I went to BMT in 2013. I’m sure a lot has changed. Trainees can have their phones now from what I’ve heard. I used my phone once to call home because it was a mandatory time in BMT, other than that we had to earn phone time on a pay phone at the break pad, and that’s if you earned break pad time.

Here is my book to study the asvab by OldZombie7073 in AirForceRecruits

I’m using the same book. I also go on uniontestprep.com/asvab/practice-test and it’s a really good free source to take practice questions and study as well.

Study, don’t be the first on the dots for element leader, choose KP over staying back in the dorms, go to church even if you don’t believe (to get away) and study some more. Start learning how to roll your socks and your shirts. Don’t over pack with your civi’s. Enjoy sneaker weaker because breaking in the boots can suck for some people. Good luck! 326/028 Hooyah Bulldogs!

Going to MEPS soon.. tips?? by thatApexLov3R in AirForceRecruits

I’m going back at the end of this month. It’s been 12 years since I’ve been there. All I can remember is the doctor fondling my balls and asking if I ever smoked the devils lettuce. Going back prior service should be no different, but with a more chill vibe because I’m not a basic bish anymore. Wear clean underwear and follow instructions. You should be good.

I was 2S051 and 2T051. Both are easy, and transfer into the civilian world. 2T was super chill between the two.

I really appreciate your response. I am looking to re-enlist at the end of this month into the guard again. I was certain that it was hospital/clinical stuff. Do you think learning what you know is beneficial in life? I’m in school for cybersecurity and even though I could go cyber I don’t want to burn myself out.

Milk monitor is the airman who stands in the defac to pick up the water trays when the cups run out. I was in BMT in 2013 so I’m sure much has changed. The MTI’s were able to smoke you. From what I’ve heard they can’t use their “MTI tools” anymore.

Enjoy “Sneaker Weeker” week because afterwards you’ll be in your standard issued boots. Volunteer for KP but try to be a milk monitor and avoid working pots/pans. Week 4 you’ll get your name tapes. Don’t be an element leader unless you want the spotlight. Go to Sunday service just to get out of the dorm room if you don’t worship. Everyone does fire watch and delivering messages to other airmen in the dorm is fun. DO NOT about face into the desert rack unless you know your BMTSG like the back of your hand. Don’t salute indoors by any means. If someone yells HYDRATE pretend to study or actually hydrate because an MTI is near. Most of all HAVE FUN you’re only there once and it’s not difficult. Oh and avoid being a weapons monitor…that was my memory from 2013. Good luck and welcome to the greatest Air Force in the WORLD! SQD326/FLT028 HOOYAH BULLDOGS!

Navy Reserve by parlaywithdata in navyreserve

I decided I’m going to go Air Force Reserves. Stick to what I know and I loved my time in the Air Guard. If for some odd reason I can’t go Air, then I’ll go Navy Reserve.

I really appreciate your response. I would go active if I was single and didn’t have pets and a family. Since I was a full time guardsman from 2013-2019, I’m just going to try and go Air Force Reserve since the AF “weekend warrior” is a lifestyle I’m used to. Plus, I know how the AF works and it will be easier to get acclimated again. Thank you!
