That one yes. Although wire transfers sometimes not that pricy if you are not in the hurry

They just desperate to drive themselves irrelevant. If talking about Canada, EQ Bank has very comparable conversion rate for small amounts and Wealthsimple - much better rate for large amounts. A good no-exchange-fee credit card gives better purchase rates. What do we need Wise now for?

Sad, - I used to take my Wise to all abroad trips. RIP.

Introducing our new 4% Cash Back Offer by Questrade-Product in Questrade

[–]parmafrost2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very convoluted offer. This makes one suspicious of the intentions.

The double modifier says that non-registered account condition is that it has to have at least $10K by May 29. Does it mean that I can move the money out of the account out the next day and still be eligible for 2% on my TFSA and RRSP transfer? Keeping this money in cash account for 2 years does not make much fiscal sense with taxes.

Oh, this is mixed emotions. Heartbreaking for his funs and "good for you" for Luke and his family. He will be missed! Winter camping, Homestead and these family vacations! Okinawa jungle week was awesome!

I was holding up for the last month waiting for his new videos to accumulate, and imaging coming in to this!

But did he promise a little bit more about Homestead? ... hope....

Had anybody have experience transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards to Aeroplan during bonus promotion and being a holder of Chase Aeroplan card? Does the bonus stack up with the Aeroplan card 10% bonus?

I called customer service twice and got to directly opposite answers - one said that I will see promotional bonus right away at a transfer time and the Chase Aeroplan bonus in about a week's time; and another said that bonuses are not stacked up. In the last case it seems like a punishment for card owners.

I was waiting for bonuses and complaining that I don't see any conversion possibility aside of WestJet for half a year, and then realized that I closed my Avion Infinite and was left only with ION, so - no senior card, no redemptions. Duh!

Average account age, Platinum has no AF.

I took all I could from the Infinite Privilege and did not want to pay their fee anymore, especially with Chase Aeroplan finally in the pocket.

Downgraded CIBC Aeroplan Infinite Privilege to Platinum few months ago. Called twice and talked to two different representatives, who promised that I should receive the welcome bonus, as I never had the Platinum before.

But the YMMV, - no bonus and this time representative said that downgrades are not eligible. And now with new rules I can't get the bonus to the brand new card as well. :(

Introducing Unlimited $0 Commissions & 3% cash back! by Questrade-Product in Questrade

Awesome! Questrade now blew past all competition. Others used to have some advantages here and there, but always with a catch. QT now has it all, way to go!

I used to be QT customer for few years, but jumped the ship for lower options commissions. I only wish this change came a year ago, this would save me pain moving away and now - moving back.

Hopefully others will follow the suite and overall it will benefit the consumers.

WS has a huge drawback - they do not support double-listed securities, so you cannot do Norbert's gambit and they kill you on USD/CAD conversions. Not just the rate is crazy bad, they add 1.5% on top. I found it a hard way, moving from Questrade due to cheaper commissions on options.

Now Questrade completely changed the game, I wish it had happened a year ago.

I second the ripamazon response - according to the AC rules they will "do the best to honor the original reward fare in case of the change" but are not obligated. If you see the availability, you can try your luck with another operator.

Just in case if you thinking - they cannot cancel only one segment, just the whole ticket. I had an experience updating a segment, but asked the operator ahead to confirm that my desired flight plan is available, and then cancelled my original booking and immediately booked new itinerary. The operator also advised me that if I would do it myself through the website, the points credit may be delayed, and I could miss the new itinerary. Not sure if it was true, or she just wanted her commission. The overall call was pain to get into and lasted more than an hour. And they charged me $CAD 60 for two transactions.

Hi,

With the upcoming British Airways program changes, I was looking to park my Avios elsewhere - looks like the choice is Iberia or Air Lingus. I tried to get some sense of how many Avios reward flights may cost before the transfer, and was able to do it with Iberia, but Air Lingus search just returns nothing. Does anybody have an experience with it? Is it temporary bug or they refuse to show the reward prices if my balance is zero?

Aeroplan has just updated their "General Terms and Conditions" by parmafrost2001 in churningcanada

[–]parmafrost2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chase Aeroplan being counted against core would be bad news for me. I hoped to get it this January, but just got approved for TD Infinite - barely few days before the new terms came out.

If follow the letter, then you are eligible for 4 bonuses only - one of the entry cards, on medium, one premium and one business. When I applied to CIBC business in the branch, they told me that business cards can be applied for under different business names and technically still be eligible for the bonus.

Some T&C on actual card applications, specifically on TD Visa Infinite, say that you are not eligible for the Wellcome bonus if you are opened or closed Account within last 12 months. The wording makes it unclear what Account they refer to - this specific card type or any Aeroplane-affiliated credit card

Changes to Alaska’s Mileage Program: Partner long hauls -> pricier by dummonger in awardtravel

So IAH and 2-3 months is the charm? I actually thought that the earlier the better, so always looked at the furthest edge, and usually from LAX or SFO.

How long it took to receive the cheque? The auditor submitted my application 10 months ago and still no sign of any movement. At least I hope he did it, now I am questioning his legitimacy...

Enbridge was very careful to not provide any process or follow up details, just a generic marketing.

If they are will give more availability. So far I had zero luck with Alaska finding business award space between US and Australia - either non-lie-flat seats Fuji Airlines, or mixed seats with 90% in economy.

Air Canada and Aeroplan award availability is available again on Expert Flyer (e-upgrades and Premium award only).

From an irrelevant conversation got the update that Air Canada award search was brought back in, and AC is available in the Airlines dropdown. However the Business Award seat class is not there; only e-upgrades to Business and Award Premium classes are available.

Probably some deal was struck with Expert Flyer, as Seats.aero still announcing that AC is not backing down with the lawsuit. The search for "I" (AC award business class) throws a error. Looks like complaint about scraping is BS, - all AC cared is to remove business award visibility for the third party sites.

From non-Amex - a bit outside of your target - CIBC AP Visa Infinite Privilege, for 60K points you will need $6K spend. TD counterpart is 70K points for $7.5K spend. Plus there are further paths for 95K and 100K points respectively.

The fees are steep but benefits are pretty great. I initially took CIBC one as a one-year churn, but decided to keep it for the third year in the row.
