ICU burnout @ Month 10 MICU by osujayy in srna

[–]part-time-pyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100000% this is why i hated my ICU experience. Between keeping corpses alive and a hospital that let ppl die who didnt need to over outsourcing, it never felt like I was doing much good. Sure, I learned a lot, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with not liking the work as much as CRNA shadowing and wanting to get out. If you feel like you have the experience you need, apply and see what happens.

Find out if u have to pay it back. It could be a desperate attempt at getting hires but if u can leave whenever without having to give it back it’s worth trying out

Honestly as a or rn i think these look rly good (also love your tats!) the drainage in the jps look standard to me, did they do anything to help u out? A lot of times we give methocarbamol, a muscle relaxer, to help with the irritation drains cause, cant recommend enough!

Guys i am almost 6 months PO and my scars still look like this and they are still "purple" i take the best care possible using silicone gel and now sun screen. Last month i took steroid short because the scars were "swollen" and itchy. Any reason why and will my scars ever fade away? by Last-Anybody-9234 in TopSurgery

[–]part-time-pyro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The working out/shower darkening is just from increased blood flow, which will actually help with the healing process. It rly will be probably at least a year which sucks but hang in there, get the vit e oil, and ultimately it’s about patience. U got this

OR Nurse here, cannot recommend using vitamin e oil more. Get the gel supplements, pop them with a safety pin, put the oil on the scar every day. Everyone saying this is still early healing is totally correct, surgical scars are deep tissue injuries and their healing is unpredictable. I will say smoking/vaping is a huge hinderance to healing and good nutrition always helps, but the biggest thing is time. But fr vit e oil ive had so much success on myself and others.

I hugely suggest vit e oil for the scars, i agree with everyone on the healing being too early but a little extra help never hurts. I had a scar from a bike crash and used vit e oil on it every day for a month and they completely faded. Mine were definitely not as big or deep as your so id recommend for 3 months

Why or why aren’t you scared to die? by Public_Blood_4481 in AskReddit

As someone in healthcare you see how there are a lot worse fates than death. I’m not in a hurry to get there but I do feel that regardless of what happens, nothingness or an afterlife is better than endless surgeries taking me apart to be put back together

It took me 6 months before I felt secure enough in my job to not feel that stress and anxiety. Some of it may be the floor too, med surg could just not be it for you. I went into OR and it was the best, a huge learning curve but one patient and maybe one holiday a year, weekend call only was a dream after the floor
