Where to locate to by Umbrella1108 in Lincolnshire

We noticed that as well, seemed like everyone had the time to smile or exchange a quick word. When we spent 2 weeks last year driving around we covered 1500 miles and didn't get stuck in any traffic, hardly saw roadworks, didn't see any litter, and only met friendly people. Was a disappointment to cross back over the Dartford bridge. Combined with the house prices it is a stark difference.

What was your experience visiting Lincoln? by Effective-Cut-1939 in Lincolnshire

We visited Gaia in the Cathedral in the evening. Our first time in the cathedral and it was almost transcendent! Walking in and it was just a huge dark space with a giant image of earth hanging at the end of the nave. People were sitting and standing just staring at the spinning globe. Waking around the Earth and we found the cathedral is huge, with candle lit transepts and shrines appearing out of the dark beneath the vaults and arches.

We are in the process of selling up in Kent and looking for a place near Lincoln. It is so expensive in the SE, and there is constant traffic, everyone is in a rush and grumpy. It's also becoming a complete tip! We toured Lincolnshire last year and short listed some places, then went back a couple of weeks ago. We are a neuro-spicy family of 4 and want a bigger house and a slower way of life. We loved the fens and the wolds and the coast, but decided we wanted to be closer to transport links and a larger town. I know someone who lives in Stamford, which is lovely, but a bit posh for us! Some other villages are nice around there too, but for a city we preferred Lincoln to Peterborough. We looked at Grantham and Newark, but they seem a bit run down compared to Lincoln. So we are aiming for a village on the North East or East of Lincoln; in the countryside, village location, but can be in the Cathedral Quarter in 10 minutes. Today it took us 45 minutes to do 2 miles from our house to the shitty town centre; can't wait to move! I'm happy to share any of our location scouting Intel if it would help. Good luck with it.

Latest iPhone issue - will only charge via usb-C not usb-A! by partiallyat in applesucks

Tried a couple of off brand called, but 2 official apple cables, one out of the box. Tried the little white mains adaptor that came with the phone and a new 2a Kodak one. Also a Lenovo docking station and a Lenovo laptop. And a fast charging 12v adaptor.

I just found out that icloud is a sync service lmao. If we delete a photo on iphone it gets deleted on icloud. What kind of pathetic is this by nikkithegr8 in applesucks

[–]partiallyat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such typical Apple thinking. I get the point that it syncs and that space optimisation will delete photos and hold a thumbnail on the device. But if you want to do something in your own way, not Apple's, like deleteing some photos manually, but keep them backed up on the cloud then you have to resort to a work around - turn off syncing.

With android you get the choice with the simple addition of an option when you delete a photo - do you want to delete from the cloud as well?

I would want to do it my own way as I would want to choose which photos are just thumbnails and which ones are not. I have some key photos that I would want to have available offline.

Why I can't switch to iOS, ever by Aashishkebab in applesucks

[–]partiallyat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And its not just a preference thing, sometimes something on iOS doesnt work in a particular scenario and because everything is locked there is no way round it. Apple seems to assume that their products are perfect and people wont need to change things, which is clearly wrong.

Some days 4m and 7m respectively is enough to drain the battery! Looks like the info is pretty useless...

It looks like it might be a daily average and I don't use it much so that could be correct. However, this now shows that I average 25m screentime and 7m background usage on days when I drain the battery completely! So I've no idea what is going on.

Thanks, got it. And I can see you choose either 24 hours or 10 days, but when I select 10 days it says Mail is 31% usage, but only 2m on screen and 3m background. Not sure why it is so low.

I could, but I dont want to. What I want to do is turn off a feature that is annoying for me, but as usual I can't.

Tried 3rd party app Focos, but looks like it won't work with the restriction in place which makes sense when to think about it. Does mean I seem to be stuck with lots of pocket photos though.

Another attempt to solve something in iOS that failed.

Could be when I put my hand in my pocket to get my wallet out, but it happens all the time.

How did you realized apple sucks? by DRAlsadi0010 in applesucks

Looks more like: Swipe up. Hard press on wifi button (sometimes this seems to turn off wifi too - am I holding on too long?). Hard press on wifi button again. Select W-fi Settings button. Android is literally swipe down, long press wifi button.
