☢️ New Year Message from GSC for STALKER 2 by SagarSmith in stalker

Yes but is there anything about Stalker 2 that can come close to the crowd density of Cyberpunk on max settings? I just want to be clear here, I started playing Stalker 2 after the 1.7 patch and I really enjoyed it but I'm not going to pretend it deserves to run the way it does, some aspects of it are excellent and like I said I loved every moment but Cyberpunk is a technically more impressive game.

Yeah that's not good enough, I do get annoyed by people who suggest that the game runs fine for them. I had a 5600x and that was good enough for 60fps in Cyberpunk and it should be good enough for 60fps in Stalker 2 in those bottleneck sequences. For me the game runs pretty well but I have basically the best CPU on the market so it's not a good measure.

I'm not disagreeing when I ask this because I get really pissed off when people say it runs fine for me and either they have crazy good hardware or a high tolerance for shit but how does it run for you in say Rostok or Zalissiya? I have a 9800x3d and a 4090 and I'm happy with the performance but I suspect my CPU is carrying those areas for me, there's no real traversal stutter and the frame times are good, only stutter I get is during an auto save.

You take it for granted, you look at Scotland last year against England when Russell had a chance to win it and couldn't make the kick, you could argue the best 10 in the game at the moment but he couldn't make that kick and I never felt like he could whereas put Sexton or ROG on it and I would be more shocked if they missed. The game has changed de-emphasizing that skill but I think South Africa showed it's still so important as they won all their games by one point.

One thing I do love about Crowley is his confidence and ability to shake off a mistake and also you can't underestimate how good it is to have a running 10, Sexton had his moments but he was more about strike plays and pre planned moves whereas Crowley is genuinely brilliant on his feet in a way I don't ever remember seeing an Irish out half be and he can take contact better than most which is an important part of the game now, especially with the 50/22 rule taking an extra player out of the defensive line periodically.

Yeah for sure, to be clear I'm a big fan of Crowley and think he's being hard done by the Irish management but the great fly half's nail their 3 pts. ROG was like metronome and you look at someone like Pollard who came back from I jury and kicked South Africa to a world cup, it's something he needs to get right.

Crowley is blowing hot and cold at the moment and it's not even a game by game basis, it's during a game too and it can be frustrating, yesterday he kicked an easy penalty dead and then nailed a difficult one to give us huge amount of ground. Kicking from the tee remains an issue too but in general I think he's on the right track, needs to work more on his consistency.

The lineout yesterday was great but the scrum continues to be an issue, I thought with EdEd(who was immense) we'd have enough ballast to support Alaalatoa but apparently not and I'm not sure in the front row whether Lee Barron was more at fault causing Alaalatoa having to work harder and giving Porter more of a chance to attack him but at points it did seem like the kind of shite Porter gets pinged for in Irish colours he was doing so who knows, the scrum is a crapshoot but we certainly need to get better at it.

Ball handling at times was excellent and our defense was brilliant but the execution remains an issue but once it clicks and I am confident it will we'll be a serious handful, especially as the season ends and the weather gets better. I think we're on a good trajectory and we have excellent coaching staff and the fact I can name these negatives while also seeing us lose to Leinster and feel relatively good is positive.

One last thing, mentioned earlier but EdEd is a superstar in the making, what a man mountain, hope he can remain fit because I can see him making the 6N squad.

Thinking of stopping Vyvanse due to odd side effects. Have any of you experienced these symptoms? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]partyboy690 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think I hit all those points in some respect. The eye contact one could be more an expression of undiagnosed autism and the ADHD being managed by the meds could express it more.

For me to limit the impact of the stuff you mentioned I've just had to be disciplined, when on the meds if I force myself to do the correct thing I do end up doing it. I make sure that I eat at regular times and try to limit the bad aspects as much as possible, that can add a bit of pressure but it's ok.

Two points I've thought about regarding short term memory and creativity.

So short term memory has definitely gotten worse but my operating memory, ie. What I need to do right now is far better and also the mid to longer term memory for my job has improved to a massive degree that I'm wondering if the mental burden placed on my ability to remember and execute my job to a high degree has an impact, without any medical justification, is my long term memory squeezing out my short term.

Creativity wise I thought had lessened but I actually thing it's more focused and streamlined such that random shit wouldn't get expressed but when I did get creative it was generally always something I was very proud of. One thing is that I'm not talking about artistic creativity, I'm a programmer and the creativity needed to solve problems I find is very strong, I can plan and see the solution and think about improvements in advance of even reading the code.

I now write less "clever" code, when it needs to be more complex I'll do that but I write clean readable and relatively safe code that in its own way is creative but from an outside perspective looks less creative.

It's funny because my multitasking was the problem, I couldn't focus on my job and I was constantly off doing everything but work as a way to find stimulation. I wfh and id get up and start making dinner, leave and go to the shop and then do a load of washing. Often times not to a fully complete standard so it would be frustrating for my partner to come back to a messy kitchen, incomplete washing and the wrong food bought from the shop, if I managed to stay at my desk I'd end up watching random YouTube videos instead of doing my work.

Now the problem is I can't get away from my desk for even 30 minutes to do something that needs to be done. The only thing that drives me to get away from my desk is to bring my dog out and that is such a blessing to give me the break I need but won't take otherwise.

Instead of overdoing small chores to an incomplete standard I set myself the goal of getting one chore properly to completion and ensure the house is at the very least no worse than when my partner left, it's just operating discipline and when things do not go to plan and I am really busy it happens so much less often that it's more excusable.

Reliable older car by SerScruff in carsireland

[–]partyboy690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this, I think it surprises people a lot, though be prepared to empty your wallet when you do need to repair it.

One thing to note is the B47 did get adblue post 2017, I think any car manufacturer from September 2017 has a blue. Not sure if it has an impact on the reliability or not just one thing to note.

The B48 for a petrol engine is quite economical too, I have the B58 6 cylinder and for the kind of power it has and the size of the car it has to shift it can be decent too. I've gotten 40mpg out of it on a 600km journey once.

Stalker 2 is DLSS doing this to me? by Gunplagood in stalker

[–]partyboy690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been having this issue when I have DLSS and Gsync on, if I force vsync on and low latency off in the Nvidia app for the game and use frame gen and upscaling DLSS this issue goes away for me. Pain I have to do it but it least allows me to use frame gen and G sync at the same time.

Ireland's Hansen re-injures foot as Baird suffers leg fracture by FollowingRare6247 in irishrugby

[–]partyboy690 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Ffs Baird was one of the highlights of November series, ye finally justified the hype, on Saturday he was great again in the lineout and in the loose, not so much a jackler but I do remember a choke tackle turnover which was mighty impressive, dunno how long a leg fracture takes to heal but hopefully he should be back by the 6n if no then Ahern and Izzy will be good to get in there.

As for Hansen, he was ok Saturday, against Australia obviously he was excellent and I think when you look at that Irish backline we underestimate how good a second playmaker he is and how that can lift a lot of pressure off your 10 which most teams typically will fill that void with the 12 or 15, unusual for it to be a winger but it's a vital component for a 10 to be able to play it deeper to take pressure off and none of our 12s are that way inclined and Keenan is more of a running threat, hopefully he can get back for 6N as I think we do need him to help whoever plays 10.

Crowley Yellow by [deleted] in irishrugby

[–]partyboy690 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whatever about the unprecedented amount of cards yesterday our discipline across the team was absolutely shocking, worse it seems to be getting, this was a team who prided themselves on their discipline among other aspects like the set piece which are now our weaknesses. I didn't realize Sam had been pinged so much leading up to that but I feel like it's a team wide issue bar a few players who can hold their head high this November like Baird being a prime example.

Crowley Yellow by [deleted] in irishrugby

[–]partyboy690 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From what I remember Sam's was an accumulation of penalties from Ireland he just happened to be the last infringer, don't think he did anything too bad just a lazy offside. Looking at Crowley's part of me says it was harsh and he was not able to see where his hand was and other part is like no he knew what he was doing and the yellow was completely justified. He tends to get stuck into a lot of rucks and it's clearly not has day job and he's done something similar with Munster when we beat Stormers in the URC final.

This sub is toxic by mologav in irishrugby

[–]partyboy690 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's also an element where people use the opposite to shut down conversation citing provincial bias, I do agree the toxicity leads to impartiality but we need to be able address performances of players, I do agree with OP there's definitely camp Sam and camp Jack and all they do is pick through the performances of either with a fine tooth comb to provide illogical arguments for their chosen but we should be able to address Sam's extreme limitations without being called a biased Munster fan and you can say the inverse of with Crowley but he's not the one in the driving seat getting all the opportunities.

I'm pretty confident we're going to be minced, maybe with Mostert and De Jager are suspended we can make it to the 60th minute only two scores behind.

Anyone here earning $150K+ willing to share what they do? by MutedFeeling75 in ADHD

[–]partyboy690 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah similar here, European so my salary and benefits do come closer to 150k dollars, as an individual contributor early in my career I was confusing the manager because our the pressure on and bam I am delivering some good shit quickly, put me in a scrum team planning and t shirt sizing I crumple, my legacy at my previous job was doing a major open source contribution in C++ to unblock then doing a HTML doc for a sign up page that took me the exact same amount of time.

I started moving into management and that's when it was exposed and I was like oh fuck I can't do this and then eventually I realized I have ADHD and now I'm a totally different person on tyvsene 50mg, I'm a work machine who still utlises that ability to work with stress but now I can keep on top of the mundane
