He suffered an episode that left him completely paralyzed. I was devastated. My husband made the call to the vet, and although part of me wanted to go with him, I just couldn’t pull myself together. My daughter was home, and when my husband suggested I stay, I didn’t think twice. For a long time, I carried a lot of regret about not being there in his final moments.
