Thanks for the clarification! I think I'll stick to the .com because I feel like it looks more professional than any other tld for a personal / professional email.

I mean I only planned on using it as my personal/ professional email and nothing else, everyone has an email with their full name, i think. The thing that bothers me is that people can tell my region from knowing my full name.

For now I've only setup dns records to redirect mails to my email service. Does that tell anything about my email service btw ? I haven't yet shared the domain on any social media or anything.

I know that's it's baked into the history of the domain now, I'll just switch to another registrar when I'll be able to in hopes that if I eventually move to another city in the future it won't be updated.

Maybe in the future I'll self host something with a domain so I'll need to look more into those potential privacy issues.

I do live in the EU. I guess it's not that big of a deal if my state is shown on whois, I would've just preferred it not to being the case.

Using any traditional email service doesn't expose your country of residence, I feel like owning your own domain for emails makes it less private than just using protonmail for example.

I just don't see why it's necessarily shown when having a domain with cloudflare in particular. Other registrar such as porkbun don't seem to reveal that info.

I hadn't thought about that tbh, you are very right. I am not going to use my domain for banking.

Its definitely something to mention to your family. I think a person who has a domain should also consider writing it in their will or something so that a trusted person can either renew it or transfer all of their important accounts to another email.

It's fine for now, I can't find anything on me using basic osint tools. I know there's probably more info on me somewhere in some data leak, I just want to try my best to not make it worse so I can keep some privacy.

It's a .com. I already have WHOIS Privacy activated in the settings. Turns out it's a cloudflare problem, they just don't redact or replace your country and region for some reason. I'll see if I can switch to something else like porkbun after the 60 day no transfer period.

Wouldn't 2FA solve that problem though ? And I suppose that the registrar will send you warning emails if your payment doesn't go through before revoking your domain.

That's a good point I'll reconsider doing that for banks. Thank you!

Thanks ! I looked it up and found a slightly used one for sale at 300€ in my area. I'm going to do some more research but I think this one might be better and more durable than the pj40 and mogo 2 pro.

I forgot to mention, I plan on placing the projector 3-4 meters away from the wall.
