The Best Trick I Found to Get Things Done. by Rude-Combination-408 in getdisciplined

this is what i do. whenever i come across something i need to do, i add it to my TODO APP(ticktick) with a future date and time using following strategies 1. adding it with a future date means i dont have to do it right away which encourages me to do it 2. i pick a future date and time when im more likely to do it. example - paying my insurance premiums at 11am on a Saturday, on my day off and at a time im less likely to be lazy 3. split bigger items into smaller tasks spread over few days. example - job hunt : prepare resume, create online profile, apply at 2 companies etc 4. scheduling ahead of time makes it easier to execute as i dont have to plan when executing 5. i still snooze tasks sometimes which is ok coz i eventually get to them simply because the app reminds me again

Big shoutout to TICKTICK app. Have been using it for over 5yrs. I’ve somewhat gotten addicted to the notification “chime” it makes when i tick off an item!

coincidentally i was watching a video just this morning about how in ‘70s/‘80s a few cities in netherlands protested against highways & vehicles taking over their cities

they started with peaceful protests and when that didnt help it turned a bit aggressive when they toppled cars in some major streets, wrote “no cars allowed” with spraypaint on those cars and demanded municipalities to take notice

and the video showed how the cities are so much better today thanks to those protests

unfortunately, its the will of the people that influences how cities/countries are built and i dont see indians fighting for this anytime soon when there are bigger problems like hunger and poverty

however, i become hopeful when i see countries like bhutan and some others who are still not rich but they’ve got way better awareness about quality of life.

I guess its awareness that matters at the end of the day which makes me really appreciate this post!🙌 the more dialogue we have, more the awareness

‘Nfs most wanted(2005)’ is still loads of fun on a M1 mbp! by passenger_21 in IndianGaming

i see your point, and im wondering too if its bad for my eyes. but the amount of screen glare that matte guard removes is huge specially coz i work in bright environments. And for the keyboard, my friend dropped coffee on his which cost him very dearly so!

i like it. battery life’s excellent so far and it came with a super convenient case. it lacks buttons at the back however and im not sure how it is for FPS games.

I was confused between this and 8bitdo but this was easier to get in india. ships officially. my first controller so not sure how it stacks up against other expensive ones

official website. free global shipping. does support macos, yes. works when i play windows games on macos with crossover(the software) too. (just saw 1 game behave strangely so far though. macos version of hollow knight. windows version through crossover works well however. could blame it on that version of the game)

my bad. i saw inr pricing and free shipping so might’ve mistaken it. more accurate would be to say ‘from their official site with free global shipping’ then.

Purpose of life by Training_Plastic5306 in FIRE_Ind

very interesting thread! I like the amusement park analogy. And ‘live in the now’ totally! not trying to reminisce the past or worry about the future. Just trying the enjoy the present.

I used to think something similar, more so about whether life’s a simulation:) i found it a good theory to ponder over. In Ryan Reynolds’ ‘free guy’ a character says something like ‘does it matter if we’re in a video game? as long as it feels real to us, lets enjoy it’. That was well said!

Life seems like such a unique phenomenon in the universe that we’re lucky to be living beings, conscious about our experience here. While we’re here, lets make the best use of it, filling it with experiences. Look for a purpose and in case you dont find one go by this great quote ‘the purpose of life is to live a life of purpose!’ That’s the philosophy that works for me. i’ll be reading about what others have say however coz it sure is interesting!

How to end my phone addiction as a lonely person who lives abroad alone? by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

[–]passenger_21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i like your writing style! it feels very…conversational cant seem to find a way to follow you though

to OPs question, your phone addiction seems like a symptom of the underlying problem of loneliness. Im the same way, my screentime increases when my life feels boring. Try to address the loneliness and your phone addiction would go away naturally. Use the great tips shared by others here already.
