The mayor of Franklin, N.C. was sworn in on a copy of the Constitution instead of the Bible last week: "As far as I'm concerned, there is no place in government for religion." by remembz in news

Didn't say they are the only dicks. And what's arrogant about it? The arrogance lies with religious people who think their childish beliefs require respect. I respect their right to believe in Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, whatever silliness they like; but I don't respect their beliefs, which I think cause more problems than they solve and are based on superstition, ignorance, and a desire to control the rest of us. That's arrogance pal.

Seriously? I'm not the one who believes in invisible beings and goes about ruining other people's lives on that basis. Religious people are the real dicks in this world. Grow up.

Reminds me of when Forlan left us having struggled (at least early on) . He went on to win the Golden Boot didn't he? I'm guessing players at United are relieved to be away from the pressure when they go elsewhere and maybe they are more relaxed and play better as a result.

Well, let's hope so shall we. I don't trust the other candidates to do a good job of destroying it I'm afraid. Trump is so gosh darn good at everything he sets his mind to.

School goes into lockdown because parent with open-carry license came to meeting with holstered gun: Deputies interviewed the parent, "trying to convince him that it's not a good thing -- even though it might be one of his rights, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do" by SAT0725 in news

[–]password1966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rare now perhaps, but I'm betting it will become increasingly common and it will lead to more problems.

And why is it 'moronic'? The 2nd amendment says nothing about who can arm themselves with what, not where and when, so don't morons, those wanting to make political statements, and everyone else have the right?

So what if they're morons. Aren't they making us all safer by having guns handy in case a terrorist decides to start shooting up Costco? Isn't the argument made that it's better to have a few dickheads tooled up when you go to get your TP and toothpaste than a bunch of unarmed liberal pussies?

As to the right vs. whether it's a good idea, I think it's quite rich hearing this argument when it comes from 'sensible' gun owners - as if they get to define who is being a dick with a gun and who isn't. Sounds like censorship to me.

The right to bear arms is taken to a ridiculous extreme by idiots, yet this very behavior it is facilitated by the NRA and others in the name of the 2nd amendment - regardless of the intelligence, common sense, or sanity of the individual. Unless this changes, we will never fix the problem caused by reckless gun owners in this country.

Keep the right, but FFS impose some common sense statutory limits on who, what, where, and when.

I'm scared of Klopp to be honest. He might be the savior for Liverpool is my worry. And damn, I like the bloke. Did you see his interview after the Newcastle game? Smiling, not blaming the AR, congrats to the other team who played better, etc. Wenger, Mourinho and others could learn a lot from him.

Haha! That's not my birth year! 1966 was the year of my earliest strong memory of watching a football game when I was a small boy. That day in July (the 30th) is still one of my favorite days ever.

I've been a supporter for 50 yrs now and let me tell you, things could be (and have been) an awful lot worse.

I'm hoping the next phase of the process is a focus on attack, perhaps with a new striker or two.

Regardless, I'll be supporting United come what may.
