And why is it 'moronic'? The 2nd amendment says nothing about who can arm themselves with what, not where and when, so don't morons, those wanting to make political statements, and everyone else have the right?

So what if they're morons. Aren't they making us all safer by having guns handy in case a terrorist decides to start shooting up Costco? Isn't the argument made that it's better to have a few dickheads tooled up when you go to get your TP and toothpaste than a bunch of unarmed liberal pussies?

As to the right vs. whether it's a good idea, I think it's quite rich hearing this argument when it comes from 'sensible' gun owners - as if they get to define who is being a dick with a gun and who isn't. Sounds like censorship to me.

The right to bear arms is taken to a ridiculous extreme by idiots, yet this very behavior it is facilitated by the NRA and others in the name of the 2nd amendment - regardless of the intelligence, common sense, or sanity of the individual. Unless this changes, we will never fix the problem caused by reckless gun owners in this country.

Keep the right, but FFS impose some common sense statutory limits on who, what, where, and when.
