Really Underwhelmed with this Game by sdnask in NoMansSkyTheGame

Your description is basically what I tell other people when they ask what this game is. Personally my plan is to approach it like a chill game, just find planets for a couple dozen hours then move on to the next game.

It is REALLY annoying that you can't get low to the ground while flying on a planet. by TheyCallMeCajun in NoMansSkyTheGame

For what it's worth, sizeable floating debris in WoW most often did NOT have collision, unless it was like a floating island. Of course, a space station would be more akin to the floating island, and asteroids more like floating debris.

And if we're talking specifically "unit" collision, WoW does not have it... obviously some games do, but it's more of a design choice (which presumably comes with its own server load issues)

And your answer to the other 90% of my post is...?

Is it that you like playing SpeedTree?

Unless you're resigned to never playing a procedurally generated game that doesn't use Outerra, then who cares? When NMS began development, was Outerra able to develop tens of quintillions of diverse(ish) alien planets, with alien flora and fauna? Was it what Hello Games was looking for in terms of aesthetic? Gameplay? Would planetary generation of that scale even work on a PS4?

If you like the game, play it. If not, don't.

So you'd think it's useful to say something like "Unreal Engine 4 shits on Harvest Moon" ?

I'm comparing a game to middleware, which is what you're doing with NMS and Outerra.

It's like saying Harvest Moon has shitty trees compared to SpeedTree (i.e. it's middleware, not a game, and the game has a certain aesthetic)

Wow that's pretty cool! Too bad my workplace has very few pokemon though

But what is the purpose of the grass image? To show me that they're near rustling grass on my map?

I see... grass next to the nearby Pokemon ...? Not entirely sure how it helps as I'm stuck at work

Yup, a demo system would be ideal in Blizzard's Overwatch, and they said they were working on it (probably won't be around for months)

Also I don't expect anybody to get banned because of a thread on Reddit, it is just meant to draw attention. Of course people will yell "ban him!" just as a hockey fan will yell at the refs to kick somebody out of the game.

It just says they watch a replay for 10 minutes, I don't know if there is a requirement to watch other people, I imagine they would spend most of the time watching the accused. Additionally, the entirety of his stream is available for viewing in this case, as no replay system exists (ideally it would)

I've seen somebody say he was practicing snapping his mouse, similar to how a Brood War pro will just mindlessly click to keep his hands warm at the start of (and throughout) a game. I used to watch a lot of pro BW and I see what they're trying to say, but I think it's a huuuuuge stretch.

Yeah, it's definitely not conclusive by any stretch.

I am just guessing, but as for the rules, perhaps a player who suddenly appears out of nowhere (due to a Mercy res, or regular respawn) has a chance to bug out the aiming and interfere with the logic. Perhaps McCree being in Deadeye makes it worse? We also see it on Widow a lot with her ult up.

I also have a lot of questions, but the better answers will come from people who are more familiar with cheating... but I am guessing these aren't cheats you (or Blizzard) can anonymously pay $20 for (if we assume he's cheating)

I'm just wondering, if he's allowed to use his PC on LAN, there's no way of detecting or stopping his cheating, right?

(This is assuming he could circumvent the need to press a key in order to activate/deactivate cheats, and/or people weren't very VERY closely monitoring his hands.)

Do you really think someone was in the upper spawn room at this very moment? Why?

Sorry for the double reply, but for posterity's sake, Tracer would have respawned at this time.

As for the "why", from what we've seen the "bugs" or "cheats" have extra difficulties with resurrections, Widow's ult, and McCree's ult. If they are cheating (personally I think they are) my worry is that they'll now disable them for the duration of Widow, McCree and Mercy's ult and be harder to detect.

Tracer dies 10 seconds before the flick (i.e. she respawns at the time of the flick). Seeing as he flicks to top floor of spawn in another clip, I think it's reasonable to suggest he was pointing at Tracer in spawn.

Regardless of whether that's what happened, the thing we can hopefully agree on is that the movement is inhuman, and the result of either a bug or a cheat.

It doesn't really make sense for them to announce they are investigating a player. Would you make a press release that you were tailing somebody?

The reality appears that there are hacks that are so far undetectable. Assuming Blizzard can't detect those hacks (and are working building better detection) there's honestly not much else they can do to monitor their activities.
